Are there some problems with the forum? On and off today and especially in the last few hours, it's given me database errors and even when no errors are shown, it's much slower.

it looks to me like some sort of internet worm or hacker attack (maybe DoS). We're back to roughly the usual number of users online right now (~100), but the peak was 934 about 20 minutes ago, which was exactly the time when I lost a long post to a database error.

Yeah, something odd going on. I've restarted the server a couple of times today.

it seems like this thing is getting beaten to death... have you figured out what's going on yet? internal error or external attack?

I'm looking into it, though there doesnt seem to be anything obvious happening right now.

I've rebooted the server this morning, and I'm currently in the process of taking extra backups (manually) - you always worry that you'll have to restore from backups only to find the backups havnt been working...

I'm finally up. I can remember a slugginess most of the past week at both home and the office.

We're getting RSS feeds through OK by the looks of it on the New (soon to be revealed) website. With those 2 x massive hits to the most members online this has to be a couple of DoS attacks doesn't it? (I'm no expert!)

[Edit] Actually I think' the RSS feeds are working, well some anyway, they can take a bit of time to get to the webpages sometimes. So I kind of maybe take back some of my comment for now.... Big Grin [EndEdit]

The old wiki using this link http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HomePage is giving me a 404 not found message at the moment
