My MVP is a rev H2 (wired). No matter what dongle is selected (1.51 or mvpmc) it doesn't seem to load properly. When using the mvpmc dongle (with no config file), with either gbpvr or Hauppauge mediasvc, I don't get any menu where I'm supposed to choose 'Emulation'. It boot straight to either GBPVR or the Hauppauge app.

Here's what's displayed when the MVP is plugged in...
1- Checking ethernet connectivity...
2- Loading application
3- Starting application
-> Screen gets black for about 4-5 seconds and then:
4- ENTER WIRED TEST MODE
5- REQUESTINGDHCP
6- Contacting servers
-> then GBPVR starts

Are steps 4 & 5 normal?

I've been having manageable glitches since .89.x, that should be fixed with newer dongles from what I've read here. Things like: image is not scaled in the inset frame, black screen when stopping a video or livetv unless the OSD is displayed, then I can see part of the menu. But with 1.0 and up, I can't get out of livetv/video when pressing 'Menu', the screening goes black.

I've never seen steps 4 and 5 myself but I'm not using a rev H2.
I assume you did unplug the MVP from AC (and maybe ethernet also) waited for about 30 sec's (I found 10 secs would usally be enough) , plugged ethernet and AC back in and fired up the MVP ? I'm asking just to narrow it down.

Yep, did unplug both cables from 30 sec to a few minutes to no avail.

I think I've seen this mentioned before: I think in these mvp's there is a shadow-copy of the sw in flash memory or something like that. I'm sure Mvallevand can/will tell you more.

Hans got it right and it is possible that you are loading the flash copy. I'd like to see your MVP-PVR* logs when you unplug/plug in the mvp.

The best explications for what you are seeing

- firewall especially blocking UDP port 16869
- you aren't using current Hauppauge software for that test

I'm surprised you are not getting the preferred server option in your startup sequence too.

Here's the log.

My firewall is disabled, hauppauge version is 33_25032.

Also I've played a bit with DHCP & TFTP turbo, the MVP gets a proper IP address but won't seem to boot from the specified image. I see the image filename in a packet with Ethereal though.

thanks.

Ok you aren't requesting a dongle here and you are running bootp so your mvp is not getting an ip address via dhcp. If you are running two NIC cards they might not be bridged properly.

If you are having trouble with setting up a dhcp server if you can enable Internet Connection sharing that might help.

I've only 1 NIC card. Whether it's from Turbo DHCP or my router, I think that my mvp gets a proper IP (I can see an entry for it in the DHCP Active IP Table).

Anything usual from my log?

thanks.

Marc.

1) Received BOOTP request from client. bytesReceived: 300 address: 0.0.0.0

is sort of implying that you don't have an IP address when you come in.

2) and I find this is really odd the mvp's are all 000DFE

MVP mac address: 0050C2245F91

I've turned off GBPVR and used only the Hauppauge software server. I've added the mvpmc dongle to the hardware folder, and reboot the MVP. It shows the 6 steps (as in post #1) and then start the hauppauge software, not mvpmc. I've tried disabling DHCP from the router and used DHCP/TFTP turbo with the same results.

I'll try to run the hauppauge server from another computer.
