I had my Technisat ATSC card in my gigabyte S3 for the past week. It auto-detected it, I did an ATSC auto-scan, and for the most part everything worked fine. I put it in my new IP35-e with the same (only) driver, and it installs fine but is listed under Network Adapter instead of in Sound, Video. No auto-detect this time. After manually adding the card and channels, it says there is no capture card. Media Portal and Beyond TV can't detect the card, either.

I thought I had a problem with the onboard LAN so I uninstalled that driver and turned it off in the bios. With the tv card installed, the LAN still works. With both onboard LAN and TV card installed (both showing up under Network Adapters in Device Manager), Comodo firewall shows both as ethernet devices and shows each as having a separate ip address (connected to my router).

I think if the board would stick the card under Sound, Video like it's supposed to, everything would work fine. But so far I can't get it to do that. The IP35 boards use the pci path for the LAN bandwidth or something, so I don't think that's helping matters. Weird stuff, and I'm running out of ideas.

This is with Media Center XP32. The MCE services are already turned off.

edit: I installed the setup4pc Technisat software which I hadn't done, and that software sees the card and sees some channels in autoscan (but gets an error trying to watch TV), and now Media Portal detects the card and sees some channels in autoscan (but gets an error trying to watch TV). GVPVR and Beyond TV say no tuner present. Strange.

I also have a Technisat card. I haven't got it going yet with GBPVR but have got it to run on DNTV.

The card shows up as a network adaptor when it has the default WDM driver. There is a BDA driver for this card that you can download from their website. Use device manager to update driver and manually select the BDA driver. Other programs will then see it.

I can email the latest BDA driver for the Technisat airstar 2 (DVB-T)

Cheers

I've had the card out for the past week and don't know if I'll try messing with it again. There's a BDA driver that came with the Technisat software, and then the upgraded one which I got from the website. Version 4.4, I think.

Those were the two drivers I used on the one computer for a few days playing with it before the parts for my new HTPC came and I threw that together, and then I could barely get it to do anything other than be seen and used as an ethernet device.

I tried installing things in different orders, different slots, installing with the onboard LAN turned off, turned on, installed the card then turned off its ethernet properties in Network Settings, installed Windows multiple times, etc. I still wonder if its not playing well with the motherboard itself since the motherboard uses the PCI bus for ethernet, which seems to be an uncommon thing.

I posted this and PM'd people on the forums here, Media Portal, Abit, Technisat or the viewer it comes with, and AVSforum. The best guess was the Technisat drivers are sloppily coded and don't follow the proper BDA protocols or something. A couple people on AVSforum said their cards worked fine but it did install to Network Adapter, and someone else said with the card being made to be part ethernet device, (the Technisat TV viewer splashscreen says something about networking), that it's working as intended.

So, I don't know. With it installing mostly easily on the first computer, I then put in A LOT of hours getting it to work on the second computer, and it wouldn't. I may mess with it again after I figure out why loading an EPG XML file now broke GBPVR TV and closes the program. Sad

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look for you.

Was pretty strange, loaded the msxml listings and then suddenly it's as if the tuner was non-existent. A channel scan couldn't find a single channel in x2, and x1 would just close after a few seconds.

I tried every codec I had, tried overlay since the Twinhan software was still working and that apparently uses overlay, (nice software except it only does basic TV functions and basic recording), said screw it and reinstalled Windows to try to have everything perfect on a fresh install. Sure am glad I went with a second computer that would be HTPC only instead of messing with my main one.

Suprisingly, it now doesn't like the Cyberlink codecs from PowerDVD. Installed CCCP codec pack and mpv works, so that's something. Also got the Zap2it EPG scraper working easily except it's off by two hours, so now I'm going to go find threads on that.
