NOTE: If upgrading to a newer version, MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP your MovieWiz.db3 file incase there are problems with the installation....

Since moving to PVRX2 and enjoying the enhanced UI, I've missed using the Movie plugin for managing my videos, so I've create a MovieWiz plugin.

Description:
------------
A show/movie manager and plugin
Features:
* Manager to load shows into db
- Import show entries by scanning your hard-drive
- Preload show information with IMDB lookup.
- Load show thumbnail images
- Edit any of the infomation categories

* PVRX2 Plugin which displays show information
- Lists all shows in database with thumbnail images
- Display the associated IMDB information for the show
- Launch entry to watch in GBPVR.

Any feature suggestions and/or comments are welcome.

SEE ReadMe file in download for most recent information.

This is a preliminary version, so most likely there will be bugs and much room for improvement.

After installation,
* Run the GBPVR config program
* Select the Plugins tab
* Select Movie Wizard from the plugin list
* Click the Settings button
* Provide the Location to begin searching for video files
* Indicate whether you want to search subdirectories
* Supply the appropriate target extentions
* Click 'SAVE SETTINGS' so entries are saved in config.xml
* Click Search. The list of shows found is created and displayed.
* Click Load. As each show is loaded into the db, IMDB is referenced for show information, and if exists, a local thumbnail image is captured.
* Once shows are loaded, you may review and edit the results by clicking the "Manage Content" tab.

Install can now be found on the Wiki here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MovieWiz

10/08/2007 : 1.0.6.0
* In plugin, only display categories that have movies assigned.
* In config, provide preview image capability AFTER list is loaded.
* Include Right.png and Left.png in install
* On load of new movie, set categories based on genres from imdb.
* On load, fix bug where search failed on directory "System Volume Information"
* On the Mgmt tab, you can dbl-click the the titles to Hide/Unhide movies from displaying in plugin. This will keep movie from showing up in the load list each time, but will NOT display in plugin at runtime.
* Add ability to play .ISO files

09/28/2007 : 1.0.5.0b
* Added missing Right.png and Left.png to install (thanks to 7ore for catching that!)

09/27/2007 : 1.0.5.0
* Added categories
* Enhanced IMDB lookup functions
* Include skins for Blue and Community3
* Dependent on WizUiHelper.DLL v1.0.11

I have not tested with the old interface, I suspect it will NOT work.

If you could zip up your logs and send to me, I'll see why it is not loading and displaying in the plugins tab.

I haven't had a chance to look at it but the main reason I have not switch to the new interface is because I still use My Videos plugin. The feature I need the most is the ability to span multiple drives and to have subfolders in the menu. An example is I have kid movies across several drives and with My Videos I can have them show in there own category in the menu and TV Series or just Movies in a different category. Can or will this be possible with this plugin?

At this point with the plugin:
  • The manager (config) allows you to load entries from any UNC mapping (ie \\Server\Share\....)
  • Right now, there is only a single list that displays the movies in sorted order
  • Right now, there are no categories
I am planning to add categories and/or genres as properties for the movie items and modifying the UI to filter or limit the view by category/genre. Let me know if that will suite your needs...

Have not seen that error before. It appears maybe the download was corrupted. Could you try downloading again and re-installing and see if that helps.
[EDIT]I've tried loading this on another machine and have run into the same error. I'll look into this and post an update once I figure out what the problem is.
[EDIT]Problem was bad installer, updated to a new version (found at beginning of this thread).

I have some problems...
1 . The first thing I do is selecting the middle tab. That gives me a Unhandled exception.
2. I have my movies on two harddrives. Is this supported?
3. I have 25 iso files on one of these drives. the search finds only 6 of them.
4. Why all checkboxes on the first tab, when I can't select/unselect which files to search info for? I know beforehand that no info is to be found for a lot of them.
5. I started a search for .avi's. Found some. Pressed 'Load' and pressed cancel as it searched a file i unselected (see 4.). Resterated the search and now it search the folder over and over. The db had 6 entries/avi when I deleted the db.

OK, figured out the checkboxes, as I did a rerun after I reinstalled the plugin.
And the answer for #2 is "Yes". Good. Smile

Here are some suggestions for improvements and some Bugs, a bit unsorted...

Before I go and complain a lot at all sorts of things, I'd like to say that I really like this plugin!! Good job.

Here goes:
* Still think it would be a good idea to save some loading time by excluding entries I know do not exist (or just to rename some with dubious filenames)

* I also found out why I only found six .iso-files. That was because all other had the extension: .ISO! (yes, another bug!)

* Often the "Lookup image" finds nothing, even if I have a jpg in a the working directory. Would be nice to be able to add a image manually.

* The "..." button for Work directory do not work. Path has to be entered manually.

* Is the lookup sensitive for caps? It does not find some resources even if I know there are info. Umlauts seem to be a soft spot as well: "Surf's up" "4: silver surfer" etc. and of course stuff that can't be used in file names.

* If I press lookup details and MovieWiz can't decide which movie too choose, I get a select dialog. That dialog has transparent background. Makes it difficult to read. *edit: This only appears when I access that comp through VNC,

* Would be nice with a popup to point out that movie data haven't been saved if you try to go forward and forgotten that little detail.

* A way to remove added detail (if wrong movie was found) without removing original data. (combined or replaced by former idea to be able to paste correct link). There is a movie called "Shooter" or rather at least five. I get the wrong info loaded (without popup) and if I delete all info and pres save, the info is back. *edit: Maybe a workable solution is to look for the the title first and the director next, if that is manually added.

* Continue on the bug above. If I add a plot or some other info and pres save. The old faulty text is back. I can change Title and Director though.

* In the middle of loading some .iso -files I got another unhandled exception (this exception appears when I try to "manage content" for the same file):
