Just took a first look at your work today and I am well impressed.

It all looks very professional and works better than the Hauppage software for my MVP.

V well done - I especially look forward to DivX transcoding support but the quality has persuaded me to change over without it.

If it's of any interest to other users I've set tftpd32 and gbpvr to run as services on my PC so I don't have to log on or have any Hauppage software installed in order for GBPVR to work - it makes the whole thing seem a bit slicker ;o)

I had to do the same thing with my WLAN cards utility but once I'd figured out how to do it for GBPVR it was easy.

Thanks for all the work. [Image: wink.gif]

Cheers for the kind words.

Just so you know, the latest version includes a built in tftp server and should be able boot a MVP server by itself, assuming you still have a DHCP server on you network to allocate it an IP address.

When GB-PVR boots the MVP itself, it uses the dongle from the C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Dongle directory. So if you install a new version of the Hauppauge software, you may want to copy the new dongle.bin into this directory.

speaking of MVP...any word on bringing back ffw/rrw etc on it? I got all excited to try the mvp out, installed it,got it running and then read that you disabled it for this build! [Image: smile.gif]

anyway...no biggie, just cant wait to try further functionality of a great app.

Great news...

Unfortunately, I can't get it to work.

I've checked the logs and dongle.bin is transmitted and then the MVP requests it again [Image: rock.gif]

At this point the whole thing freezes up with 3 bars changed colour on the MVP (so at least I know it's picking up an IP address OK).

Tried installing on 2 seperate PC's with the same results.

Any ideas?

Sub,

I thought I had read in one of your other posts that you were going to add the ability to run the MVP client as a service in the next release. Is that still your plan? Will you be able to start more than one copy?

Thanks,

Bryan

Currently you can use instsrv and svcany (from the resource kit) to install a dummy service and then do a bit of registry fiddling (do a google search for svcany.exe) and finally choose your startup options under Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

Unfortunately, I can't currently get the MVP support working either as a service or as normal without using either the Hauppage software or tftpd32 to provide dongle.bin to the mvp  [Image: sad.gif]

I intend to have a bit more mess around tonight but can't see anything obvious wrong. [Image: mad.gif]

If you don't have it download and run etheral. I have found it a useful resource when trying to figure out the network stuff,

cheers,
Colin.

I dont think I said 'next release'. I'll do this sometime in the future. Yes, it'll allow more than one instance.

This probably means there is no DHCP server on your network. This is the only thing GB-PVR cant do when booting the MVP. Both the Hauppauge software and TFTPD32 can do this.
