Auto EPG Update Not So Auto

I'm using the latest GB-PVR. I use an XMLTV file, but it's update is not scheduled via GBPVR, rather the data file is located on my server volume under a mapped drive letter and my server does the EPG file update nightly.

My capture source points to this file and GB-PVR is set to do an update at 7pm, when the system is always known to be on.

It doesn't seem to get the guide data, my XMLTV file is set for 7 days and every week I'll need to go into Config and do a manual Update EPG to get the data (doing Update EPG from "System" within GB-PVR doesn't work either.)

Any suggestions?

I am set up just like you with the xmltv file on my network and have the exact same issue. It has not been a big deal yet since I am on all the time and just manually update it, but I would love to fix it. I have the epg pointed at the file on the network and it does manually update. I have been lazy and not looked through the logs yet though.

Could it be that gbpvrrecordingservice is running under the system-account and therefore it cann not access network drives. Try running the recordingservice under a user-account.

Ah, the same old issue that keeps the MVP from seeing the network. I've done this long enough that I should have smelled that one.:o

Yup, that was it. Rather than changing anything about GB-PVR to run as another user, I did a simple .bat file that runs via Task Scheduler about an hour and a half before the scheduled EPG Update. It copies the guide from my server to a local directory on the C: drive and I set GB-PVR to read from it at update time.
