I had a problem Sunday night during one recording, where for some reason the mpg file didn't save correctly according to a windows error message. I never had this problem in the 1.5 years I've been a GBPVR user. GBPVR reported that there where no recording of any sort available whereas before this problem there were dozens.

When I looked at the situation, for some reason my external USB drive, where my recording are stored, wasn't showing up under My Computer but a power cycle on the drive fixed that issue and all my previous recordings where still in their proper directories.

To make matters worse though, the recording-dump.xml file was empty.

Fortunately I back-up every night, so I had the previous nights version of recording-dump.xml so I tried to an import using that file and got this message,

I've double checked all GBPVR settings and don't see any reason why I can't import this recording-dump.xml. All the files are still in their proper path as defined in GBPVR config.

Any ideas anyone.

Thanks

As it imports the file it'll check to see whether the file path references an existing file. If not, then it wont attempt to import that file. I'd have a close look at those file names and check the drive is connected etc.

I've checked, and checked the paths and files. My path via the GBPVR video files finds the recording and ORB finds them properly... it's only a GBPVR PVR indexing import issue it seems.

Is it possible the import totally fails because there's a couple of newly recorded files in the directory path that didn't exist when the backup of recording-dump.xml was created the night before this occurred. And then in using that backup file as the import doesn't quit match all the files that are now in the directory path?

Another observation...

GBPVR just started recording two shows as I'd previously programmed and they are both saving into the GBPVR directory path that all the other recordings are in which to me means GBPVR accepts the path as a valid path.

So again, why wouldn't the import work using that path in the recording-dump.xml file?

No, that wont cause it any problems.

I dont really have any suggestions for you. If the machine has VNC or Remote Desktop installed, I'm happy to connect and double check these things for you.

sub,

After recording four shows this evening without issue, those four shows and only those four shows are now listed in my recording-dump.xml.

Maybe you could look at my backup recording-dump.xml file I tried the import from and see if there's some syntax issue.

Thanks for your time

sub,

I finally figured it out. Whatever the reason (and it's in the recording-dump.xml file I attached just above) the data record lines for the last show recorded/listed Sunday night 'Shark' didn't have the closing line of </recording>.

Once I saw and corrected that, and then copy/paste the four shows recorded last evening, I was able to import the xml file properly.

Now I'm back in business.

Thanks again for a great product and all your work.
