I connected my European (scart) mediaMVP to my new Panasonic TH37PV7F television. On my old CRT it gives a perfect scart-RGB picture. On the new television the image is sharp but green. Black is green, the blue boot screen is greenish as well.

Seems to be something with a wrong signal on one of the scart pins I presume, but I can't figure out what. The tv detects an RGB signal, the cable is fully wired, I tested 2 cables and 2 MVP's. all the same.

Has anyone a clue if I can switch the MVP to another output signal format or something? With Hauppauge software you can enable svideo on the scart pins, but I would like to get the RGB to work because that gives a brilliant picture.

Hope you folks know a solution!

Looks like the same problem yes. The search did not return these to me strangely enough. The solution mentioned here is cutting pin 16 which will give composite. I would like to stay with RGB. If the MVP puts a signal on a different pin than the TV expects it, I may need to tweak the cable to reroute the signal. Hope that is possible.

See post #16 on this thread for a description as to what is going on and a mod to fix it (if you have electronics skills).

Wow! I don't feel confident doing this to my MVP I am afraid.... Maybe get a second hand one to try it on. But thanks anyway! I've cut pin 16 yesterday and that gave me color, but of course not RGB now. Seems to be not too bad after all, but I know it could be better.

It occurs to me that it would be possible to add this modification externally without (so much) danger of damaging the MVP. The only internal mod required would be one wire from 3.3V to a small socket (2.5mm jack perhaps) in order to power the circuitry which could be assembled in a small external box with two Scart sockets connected inline between two Scart cable.

MVP Scart socket -> Scart plug-plug cable -> External circuit in box -> Scart plug-plug cable -> TV
MVP 3.3V power jack -> Single wire jack-jack -> External socket in box.

Cheers,
Brian

Possibly, but then again, the nights are drawing-in up here in the northern hemisphere. You need to make your own entertainment when it's cold and dark outside. Smile

Otherwise use S-video. Almost as good as RGB and without the problems.
