Thought I had this sorted but the problem returned:
Playing any recording from the recordings page results in total lock-up of GBPVR.
I would like to know if it is me causing this issue, by using VideoRedo to convert the recordings from DVRMS to MPG?
Does this altering of the recorded files somehow confuse GBPVR? (I do rename the MPG version to the same as the DVRMS version, once it is deleted)
I am using the Purevideo decoder for video and audio - setting to system default does not make any difference...

(The attached logs were generated by first trying to play the video through recordings, GBPVR crashed, then restarting and playing the same recording through the video library...)

what happens if you leave the file as an mpeg (instead of renaming to dvr-ms) and play the file via the video library?

hmmm, won't it see your new recordings even as .mpg? there's supposed to be a setting that adjust the recordings screen pointers to new extensions if transcoded...[in config.xml <CheckForRenamedRecordings>]

not quite sure how it works, may only work if using the built in transcoder..
[can use mencoder and probably videoredo if its batchable with bultin profiles]

I am changing dvr-ms to mpg, not the other way around!
But this is the thing - even recordings I have not changed in any way will not play...
As it was working, but today it's not, and the only thing I changed was to convert some of the recordings to mpg's - I just started wondering if tinkering with some recordings was to blame for GBPVR not playing any of them?
Changing the recordings back to dvr-ms makes no difference either, they still will not play.
I must stress this only happens using the Nvidia Purevideo decoders - If I change it to Intervideo for example it all works fine..
I need to know if anyone else using Purevideo gets these problems.

If the recordings worked before videoredo converted them from dvr-ms to mpg, then I'd have to guess videoredo is breaking the files.

Yes they all play fine in media player using Nvidia codecs.
And they all play fine through gbpvr video library - just not recordings:confused:
Can you let me know what version of Purevideo you use? Mine is 1.02.233 platinum.

The last time GBPVR crashed I lost all my config settings - everything went back to default. Also I keep loosing recent recordings after it crashes - the list of recordings reverts back to an earlier list.

But other recordings that were not changed also do not play from the recordings menu...
Oh dear I think I am the only one with this problem:eek:
I know you do not use Purevideo Sub, so perhaps I should be asking what other audio decoder will give me surround sound from TV using PrologicII (and also proper DTS surround from DVD's)

Repair install - do you mean install it over the top of itself? Would I need to install all the patches again? ( I do have all the install files and patches backed up).

Yes GBPVR is using Purevideo - TV works fine (with surround sound), DVDs work fine...
To check I first change renderer to non-FSE, so I can see the Purevideo task bar icon appear. The I can go into the Purevideo settings page and see the video and audio bitrates, configuration etc.

Just before crashing when I attempt to play a recording, the Nvidia icon does show up in the task bar - as soon as this happens, GBPVR locks up! There is nothing in the logs, nor windows event viewer...
I guess it is the Nvidia codecs causing the problems..
