Hi all,

Besides watching TV, I use my MVP's to listen to music. Since GBPVR gives me so much control, I hardly use my other remotes any more, besides to switch on my TV.

I used to simply use my (old style) haupauge remote for volume control. However, since the upgrade to the new version 1.0.16 the behavure of this feature seems different.

In the new version, audio can be changed fine when watching video recordings, or live TV. However, to change the audio for my music, I would just simply go to the main screen (as of course the music screen will only change menu's if you press left or right). In the new version however this no longer works.

Now I have to start live TV, adjust the sound, go back to my mp3's and hit play every time I want to change the volume level for audio.

My guess is that this may have to do with the possibility of horizontal menus on the main screen?

Is this something I can change somehow? (I'm fine with the default 'blue skin' that does not use a horizontal layout) Does anyone have a suggestion how to change volume levels using the remote (on MVP) on audio?

The mvpmc dongle allows you to control the volume of the mvp, I don't remember if the Hauppauge dongles does or not.

What remote do you have? The dedicated volume buttons 45 button MVP remote should always work. The older left/right buttons on the 34 button remote may not work in all situations.

I can confirm that. I have 3 MVP's. Unfortunately only one 'new' remote, and when testing with that one it works, of course because of the seperate function of the volume button. On the 'old' remote the left & right buttons are also the volume function, I guess that interferes with the menu steering for the main screen.

I've started using the new remote. I'll have to use my 'work around' for the other MVP's. (or get the new remotes)

When I mentioned that mpvmc supported volume control, I forgot that during testing people wanted the navigation more than volume, I used to fake the volume. for the older remote During audio play it would be trivial to map some keys to the volume. I think the number keys are still unused.

that sounds like a great solution! Would that be possible?

Easy for audio if the number keys are available.

I need to look but I might have a new remote somewhere. Will look and give you a call.

Got a question for you also: How is your setting in the config program for the volume. (see screen shot)

That would be great! Thanks Stef!

I've played with the volume setting, but it didn't change anything on my MVP, at least not what I was looking for... (mine was originally set for master b.t.w.)

I was going to give Martin's dongle a try anyway, so if this number-key volume feature would make it to a next release I might hold out for that before upgrading one of my MVP's.

anyone know how the setting has to be for a MVP. Master or Local? Logic demands that Local is for the PC on which GBPVR is installed but hé you never know...
