Which log file has information about the automatic EPG Update?

I'm still having the problem of my Guide not updating from the local xml file.

I've scheduled the update to happen at 7pm nightly when I know the system is on and in use (usually it is in use from 3pm to 10pm on, so I know it's not the wake system issue in the survival guide.)

Thanks!

The automated EPG update should show up in GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log.

Thanks, I found this... but I don't use SD. It's an xml file. My two recording for my dual tuner reference it.

Does the EPG update require the presence of a bat file? I don't need it, but could create one that does nothing significant if so...

Thanks!

Post all your GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log files and I'll take a look.

Do you have a process running to update the xml file before GB-PVR imports it? That is what the UpdateEPG.bat does. If you are not using the batch file, you need to use another method (Scheduled task, etc.) to update the file, otherwise GB-PVR will import the same file with no updated listings.

The EPG update seems to have run ok in those log files. The logs indicate it found and loaded tons of listings. If there is no listings in the app, then maybe you've got the app pointing at an xmltv file that only has old listings? (ie, not for the current time period)

Yes, I use the Zap2xml perl script, but on my *nix server. My two GB-PVR devices have a scheduled task that copies that file about 2 hours before the schedule EPG update to the local C: drive of the machines. GB-PVR takes it from there.

I don't use an UpdateEPG.bat because the script runs via a cron job on the server and I don't point directly to the file on the server because the Recording Service doesn't retrieve the schedule from the server properly (probably because it's trying to grab the file as a user other than "my" login/pass to that server.) While I could have the Recording Service run as that user, I prefer to keep my GB-PVR install fairly vanilla to minimize problems and make updates easier.

See my reply earlier up on how I move the xml file to the local machine.

Here's what happened today:

I came home and GB-PVR was showing "no channel data" for every channel.

I quit out of X2, opened config, for each recording source I ran "Update EPG".

Reopened X2 and all the channel data was there.

Of note, running "Update EPG" from within X2 won't work, I always have to run it from the Config.

My XML file has 7 days of data in it, updated nightly. If the pattern continues as it has the past several weeks, in 7 days I'll again have "no channel data" and have to repeat the above.

So, it's definitely "good" and "current" channel data in my xml. It just doesn't seem to update from that xml file past the initial manual update.

Would "Force Complete EPG Reload" have anything to do with it? It's currently checked. I could try de-selecting that.

When did you last listings in there? yesterday? When was the application last restarted before that?

Best to leave that enabled. Makes no difference for xmltv though.
