I'm in Culver City, in the Los Angeles area, with Time Warner. I've currently got the "Broadcast Basic" - so no STB.

I've got the HVR-1600 with QAM support (correct model number). I can tune in analog no problem, and with an antenna get about 3 or 4 ATSC channels.

But when I try the QAM source, either in GB-PVR or WinTV2000, I get no channels.

Should I expect to see no channels, or a bunch of channels that are black?

If there's a filter, it's probably down at the cable box where all the other apartment units go, so I can't really mess with it.

I called Time Warner, and the Customer Service Rep had never heard of Clear QAM (not surprised). He told me I don't get digital, since I don't have the digital package.

If you try the scan again, then zip and attach the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log, then I'll see if any is going wrong during the scan process.

It is possible they've installed a filter which is stopping those frequencies from being passed on to your apartment. There isnt really anything GB-PVR would be able to do about this though Big Grin

Its common for your local affiliates (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS) to be in clear QAM. It's unclear weather they are required to provide them in clear QAM or not.

Mormegil,

Have you installed the most recent drivers from the Hauppauge web site?

I'd make sure everything is working in WinTV before trying to setup GBPVR. I've contacted Hauppauge in the past, and they only respond to WinTV related issues. Smile

In WinTV, click the Menu button, then select "Suite Manager", then click the "Sources" button. Make sure you have your cable connected to the ATSC connections on the card, then select the "Clear QAM" source and click the "Autoscan" button.

Good luck,

Anthony

I live in Temecula, with TWC South LA region and I get all of the OTA stations plus TNT, TBS, WGN, KUSI, Nat'l Geog., TWC, CSPAN, Nick, Toon and others.

FYI I've got an HVR-1600 too.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm a little too busy right now to do any troubleshooting, so I'll give this stuff a whirl tomorrow.

I do know I can tune in ASTC stuff with an antenna (only 4 or 5 stations come in). And I've got the latest drivers, and have the correct model number.

So my guess is it's the cable company. I don't know what their policy regarding this is. I suppose I'll have to talk to a supervisor.
