I just downloaded gbpvr for the first time. First, my system specs:

Asus M2N Plus SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.6ghz dual core
e-GeForce 7200 GS (DVI out to HDMI in on Sony tv via converter cable)
Hauppaugge 150MCE analog tuner card
Fusion 5 Lite digital HD card
2 Gigs DDR2-667 Memory
I've updated to the latest rollouts for MCE (running MCE 2005 OS)

I've installed gbpvr (latest version). I tried setting up my capture device (starting with the 150MCE). Since I have MCE running, I went with that option for the EPG and dowloaded the GUI for that. Seem to have set that up ok. But, still no channels listed when I run UPDATE EPG in the config. When I look at the XML file, I think I see why... there is nothing listed in it. I tried DOWNLOAD LISTINGS in the GUI, and it says it downloads and completes and converts it and all that, but still a 1k file with no content.

I've previously only used Fushion's HDTV app, and MCE itself, so the setup for gbpvr is confusing to me.

I'd like to setup the 150MCE and Fusion 5 Lite so I can watch and record analog, digital and HD through one media application. Is this possible? Can someone help me get this setup?

Yep, that would do it. You'll probably need to ask the author of that utility for help with this - I'm not familiar with it.

Yes, it can do this. When you get your listings problem sorted out then setup two capture sources, one for the PVR150 for analog, the other for the Fusion 5 for OTA digital.

Check out this thread for the mce2epg utility.

You might want to reply in that thread with your question.

Hello and Welcome

Nice machine spec. this should work fine

Quote:I've installed gbpvr (latest version). I tried setting up my capture device (starting with the 150MCE).

Start config.exe select 'capture source' nowpress add, provide the capture card with a name I suggest PVR150MCE. Leave the recording source on 'direct recording plugin' press setting and select PVR150MCE (should be second on the list). Change the source for this card to the correct method(Mine is set to sVideo, External Tuner) Finally select your quality level and press ok

Back to 'Add Capture Source' window. On EPG, I'd select SchedulesDirect as your are in the USA. (you'll need to nip off and create an account on http:// www.schedulesdirect.org ) Come back here and press settings . On the schedule direct window enter your username into the email address (Sub the author have promised to correct the label) and enter your password into the password box. Click 'ok'.

Back on Add Capture Source click update EPG and it will read in the channels and listings for you.

Finally Select OK and the 150MCE is set up. In princible you can now use GBPVR.

For the Fusion Card. Again click add on the capture sources, this time change the record source to 'BDA recording plugin' and press settings. this time select the fusion card from the list. This time select ok.

Back on the Capture sources screen you will need to click Map Channels to EPG. Follow this though mapping each channel to the EPG channel and finally press OK.

Now you can use GBPVR. press ok to close Config and off you go.

I think it's because you have not got a EPG source defined, follow my instructions and you should be fine.

Yes most of us who use GBPVR run several tuners !

Good luck

systemshark, if all else fails, I will try that, but my (limited) understanding is that since I'm running MCE, I should be able to pull the EPG from there (thus negating the need for a paid service listing). Am I wrong on this?

In the wiki, under EPG Setup, this is the method I am attempting:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/MceEpg2XmlTv

I will try posting in the other thread and see if I can get some answers on this.

BTW: I have never used MCE but I *think* you will also need to disable it's background service to stop it interfering with gbpvr.

You are correct, you will get a free EPG. Whurlston or zehd will surely help you out.

Is your EPG working in Media Center? If so, open a command prompt and type the following commands:

Code:
cd \epg
mceepg2xmltv > log.txt

Then zip and post the log.txt file

The EPG does work in MCE, but, after trying to get things working in gbpvr, I had to redownload the guide a time or two. If I don't mess with gbpvr, it is fine.

Attaching log file.

Now, when I did that, it actually created the xml file in the output folder. When I use the GUI, it doesn't do that. In fact, some of the DOS windows freeze using the GUI, and I close them manually (the dos window indicated completed in the current task), when I close the DOS window, it does on to the next thing.

Also, in the GUI, when you select a capture device, the WIKI says, notice how the path to the XML file is filled in automatically, but it had not been doing that (and when I would check the output directory, there would be no files in it).

So, it appears the 150mce is set up. Now, I try to set up the fusion, and run into the same problem.

I run config for gbpvr, and add a new capture device. Set to bda recording, and select my card. I try to click the MAP button, but it says I need to set the EPG first. So, I set that to xml, and click settings. Of course, I don't have a path to give it. So, I launch the mceepg2xml gui, and add comcast digital to the list. If I try to set the capture device, only the 150mce shows up. So, I go back to the gbpvr config. I leave the xml path blank, and hit ok. Then ok again, and then close out of config entirely. Now, the fusion will show up in the gui as a capture device. So, I select that. But, the xml path is not filled in automatically. And, I don't see that it has created a second xml file in the output. In fact, the log file is exactly the same (using the above method), and this time, it doesn't fix my problem.

Should the EPG for the fusion point to the same XML file? I has two provider entries for COMCAST, one has DIGITAL and the other doesn't. So, I set the 150MCE to the non-digital one, and am trying to set the fusion card to the digital one.
