There is a keystroke you can use during playback to capture a thumbnail at that spot in the video. These are also shown in the recordings screen if youre in the large mode.

hey
thanks for the tip. but that means that while i am watching, i need to press it and it will capture. i though it would be cool that after it finish recording, it goes in to the file X minutes and capture a thumb pic and display it automaticly

I did look into that, but it gives crap results. You end up with some random frame that seems to be useless the majority of times.

Maybe my expectations of what a screen capture should look like are too high Big Grin

If it's a regular show, then I find a combination of Carlitos ProgramImageTool and JavaWiz's ShowImageGrabber work for a large proportion of shows (IMDB, TV....etc ).

I schedule ProgramImageTool after a show is recorded via postprocessing.bat and ShowImageGrabber once a week on the whole EPG.

FYI, I frequently relied upon the screen capture feature we're discussing here when I ran a MythTV box (before I ditched it for the much better GBPVR).

The screen grab allowed me to verify that my IR channel changer was functioning properly (which it did 90% of the time, but tracking down those 10% of the programs would have been a bear had it not been for the screen grab).

Seeing the screen-grab was especially helpful in the Web interface, where you didn't want to start a stream unless you knew the content was as expected.

@jksmurf: your solution is quite industrious! Nice!

I could add this to skiptool and burndvdx2 if that would help.
Would I save the file as folder.jpg?
