Recordings Missing from Ready List after upgrade

Hi I've recently upgraded to 1.0.16 from 0.99.5 (I think...) - the new interface is great!

Slight problem however - most of my recordings in the ready list are now missing. Just to give you one example: I had 25 episodes of a programme recorded, but the Ready List now just shows 4 failures (which were there before)...

The files still exist - I had a look, but I can't access them via the recordings list... Sad

I've got a complete backup and a restore point from immediately before the upgrade.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
PhilTr

Did you change the drive/directory with the recordings on?. By default, gbpvr will delete from the database recordings that it cannot find on disk.
If you have a backup of the gbpvr program directory there should be a file called recording-dump.xml that is made each time gbpvr updates it's EPG. This file should contain data of all your recordings and can be imported with the config program. If you have changed drive or directory of your recordings then you will have to do a search and replace in the file.

Ah.... there's a chance that the external USB drive I store all the recordings on wasn't powered up at the time of the upgrade... :o

Thanks Martin, I'll give that a try. Is it likely to bring back all of the programme descriptions, or not?

sounds like you haven't converted to the new kind of database. You likely need to execute changedatabase.exe in the GBPVR folder and follow the instructions. Watch out though, there is a option where you can transfer the existing recordings ( migrate data checkbox): I didn't click it and thus I thought I lost my database.

However, if you go to the config panel first and "export recordings" from the plugin tab, you can then "import recordings" after you have changed the database to the new format and all your recordings will be displayed again (I think).

Yes, the export file includes all channel and description data. Then you may stil be able to get the data back from metadata stored with the file. Have a search on the wiki for something like mpegimport that can be a lifesaver in a situation like this.

Thanks both, the import worked perfectly from my backed up recording-dump.xml.bak file. I didn't need to export first, as I hadn't had any successful recordings since the upgrade. Just for reference, is the import an overwrite or a merge? Anyone know?

The import brought back all the meta-data as well! Yay! Smile

It is a merge. If you do it again, right after an import, it will say "0 records imported" - or something like that.

btw: you can decide if you want gbpvr to delete missing recordings or not using the config.xml parameter <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>
