I was looking at switching back and forth from GBPVR to MVP as decsribed by Cakes in this thread,
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14064&page=3
but it looks like it's not possible to point to bat files in the add task tab of the config applet. Is this right?

1. you can point to any filetype you want, doesn't matter if exe or batch or whatever extension else. simply browse to the desired dir & type the name of your file (only the display files filter is hardset to exe)
2. it still may not help you any further, custom tasks are not supported by PVRX2.exe. you'll need to stick to the old interface (aka GBPVR.exe) if you want to use custom tasks Wink

last time i had to do that, i had to type %comspec% in the browse dialog, which puts in path\to\cmd.exe and for params add " /c [your .batfile and params]"

so ends up like:
cmd:
c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe

params:
/c run.bat
Big Grin
sure hope the come back in the new interface...can be handy to have for special problems...

I would never have thought of that. Thanks.

I don't really understand the difference between GBPVR and PVRX2. It's only mentioned obliquely in the wiki and the implications are not clear. Can you use either interface with v1.0.16 (i.e. is it like a different skin/gui) or is v1.016=PVRX2?

Once you have a feature like Custom Tasks, why would an upgrade lose it?

GBPVR was the original front end, PVRX2 came with version 1.0(?) and improved what was possible for the front end to do (animation etc). I imagine the re-write was a fairly massive job, which is why sub skipped some of the less used features - Hopefully they will return with future updates.

Sorry, still not clear. Is it possible to use the old GBPVR front end with the new release v1.0.16? (in order to retain old features)

Yes. There are are two exe files installed (for now). GBPVR.exe is the old one you're used to and PVRX2.exe is the new UI.

sorry, but i just select the batch file, thats enough & works. no need to complicate it any further Wink

as McBainUK said, it's not so clear how long sub will keep the old gui supported, he might just drop it in the next release Wink
