Hi, i am a newbie to all of this, go the above stick as a present and installed it...no problems. then found out about gb-pvr. i am running xp sp2 and have searched the posts regarding this stick, and have come up against some problems.

i downloaded the bda drivers from freecom, but when i try to uninstall the old ones and reinstall the bda ones i cannot even find the device in device manager. not even the smallest hint that anything could be the usb stick. i take it once i have installed the bda drivers correctly then gb-pvr will recoignise the device in its drow down list when i select source [cos at the moment there isnt a freecom device listed]

one thing at a time anyway, can anyone help with uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the bda ones. i am fairly competent with my pc but it has baffled me why i cannot find the drivers, even switching usb port didnt bring the installing hardware program up...it just let the device be used from that port...

please help...

I haven't got one, but people have been using them. shove freecom into the forum search and quite a few pop up. The link below has a post with sort of step by step in getting one going.

thanks for the response....i have finally managed to get the freecom bda drivers installed, it kept saying it had installed a realtek 2831u driver. i then had to update driver and it found and installed the freecom driver.
i have now followed the gb-pvr instructions for your above post, set up the source as the freecom usb, and set up the xmltv tv. it has found the chanels but on trying to map them i get the error; gb-pvr was unable to start the bda device you ahve configured. check the device is configured properly, and not already in use. (reason: failed to locate configured BDA capture device)...
now i'm stuck again....can anyone help from this point on?

This is where I start to get lost myself, not having had to do it.

It is possible that the driver has given the device a different name to those in BDA.INI Hopefully there may be something in that earlier post about tweaking BDA.INI Other than that I think Sub comes along and points to an old post with a utility that displays info about your device and rapidly followed by a suggestion of what to add into BDA.INI

Can you run Filtercheck.exe from the GB-PVR directory, then zip and attach the resulting filtercheck.log?

According to that, there is no BDA drivers installed on your machine. This at least explains why GB-PVR is unable to find it.

ok....i can see the device now in dm, as a freecom usb 2.0 dvb-t device..when i check the properties for thr driver it shows, at the top of the list is H;\windows\system32\BdaPlgIn.ax, the second in the list is the BdaSup.sys..there are two others lower down matching my previous driver[maybe conflicting somewhere]. i will attach the driver list

is there a way of getting rid of the rtl2831ubda drivers. under the driver heading in dm it still shows as realtek driver provider version 5.55.1.5.

does this help anyone explain what is happening?

Sorry, but that doesnt make things any clearer.

Are you positive you had the device plugged in when you ran filtercheck.exe?
