For anyone that was deterred from trying the Manager due to my excessive warnings, I've finished the documentation and most features so that I'm ready to have folks try it out...

http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utili...LTVManager

As mentioned before, I'm still going to need some work on the Wizard. I think it has the potential of being really cool, but I need help...

But for now if I could have folks try out the manager with Manual install (no wizard)

The docs intensive as they are only to help with troubleshooting if you have to. Hopefully basic operation is fairly intuitive.

As this will be designed with the novice in mind, I'd really like ideas to streamline the manual process.

Of course the goal is a one button Wizard...

I've been using Ultra and Renamer for a few weeks, downloaded the current ones today along with Manager. I get a bunch of info in the TVbXML folder, but so far I haven't seen any extra info show up anywhere after multiple EPG reloads. Using Zap2it grabber. The logs show Ultra connecting to the online databases but rarely finding anything.

I also get an error 53 "file not found" for the xmltv file, looks like due to the shortened pathing of "progra`1", but I can't find any mention of that short pathing in any EPG or postprocessing or other files. I can see Manager run through the programs, and the log says it just skips that xmltv file and then processes the correct one, which is the same except for not having the shortened "progra`1" path. I'd copy the line exactly but I'm not at that computer right now.

The weirdest one is what started the past few days. I don't recall doing anything different other than recording in .ts and dvr-ms files instead of mpg. Right around 3pm every day "UltraXMLTV-Renamer run-time error '6': Overflow" error pops up. My recordings look to get renamed fine, and any auto-update stuff is scheduled for early morning, so having this error come up every day at 3 or 3:05pm is a little odd.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Whew! Let's break it down.

Quote:A guy walks into a doctors office waving his arms up and down. He's grimacing: he's in pain. "Doctor, Doctor, it hurts when I do this...!"
Doctor says, "Stop doing that."

Most likely, the Renamer is erroring in one way or another because of file extensions. I might have counted back from the end three notches to check if 'mpg'. That's actually bad programming, so I will check for any type of extension (Not any, just mpg, ts, and dvr-ms) (But I still don't know why it's doing that.)

Stop doing that.

I don't know how you get the idea that there's a short file reference. What error massage do you get? When does it happen? (Exactly, as in before you scratch your head and after you take a sip of beer?)

Stop doing that.

I assume that this is your first version of the Enhancer you're trying that has the 'get all info' function. How does it run if you do not check "Get all Info"...

Stop doing that.

And as far as you computer trying to do something you don't want it to do at 3PM. Straighten your finger, point it at the Computer and sternly say, "Stop doing that..."

Alright, now that I have sufficiently lighten the mood, (at least here. It's quitting time)...

To track the Manager and possible starting when not wanting: Click on the wizard button and send me the wizard log, the Manager log, your UpdateEPG and PostEPG.bat and tell me what else might be running with Task Scheduler. I will be releasing another Manager that will log all entries in Task Scheduler, just to be sure...

For the moment, until we get the enhancer and renamer working, lets hold off on the Manager just cause that's too many variables

For the Enhancer not getting extra info, ( if the log is getting too big delete first) but send me a recent Enhancer log of you trying to get all information. (And also, tell me if there's no problem when you skip the get all)

And give me a couple examples of shows that you are particularly checking to see if there is extra info...

If I click "run now" in Manager, I instantly get a runtime error 53 file not found. It then continues downloading a new EPG. I was thinking it was from the shortened path since the Enhancer log has almost three weeks of "Bad filename passed" like below. But now I see today, after installing the current Enhancer and new Manager, the line below is the last time it shows that error in the log, although today is the first day it gives the error 53 in the first place. So I guess they're not related. The new files and Manager weren't installed until after the 5:02am time.

2/29/2008 5:02:12 AM : Bad filename passed: c:\program~1\devnz\gbpvr\xmltv.xml
2/29/2008 11:24:42 AM : Checking C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\xmltv.xml
2/29/2008 11:24:42 AM : Loading C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\xmltv.xml
2/29/2008 11:24:43 AM : Finished loading file in 0:00:01 seconds.

Stop doing that.

I don't have "Get all info" checked, if you're talking about the one found in the "Config Episodes" menu. Only the first two are checked.

zehd Wrote:To track the Manager and possible starting when not wanting: Click on the wizard button and send me the wizard log, the Manager log, your UpdateEPG and PostEPG.bat and tell me what else might be running with Task Scheduler.

This is the first day using the Manager. The 3pm-ish error has been happening for at least a few days. I just double-checked Windows Scheduled Tasks and there are none. The only one ever on the HTPC was a weekly defrag, but I turned that off a week or two ago.

I can see some extra info such as actors, etc, in the TVdbXML folder, but I can't get it to display anywhere. I've checkmarked pretty much everything on the Enhancer menu. I think it's just not putting that information into a new EPG for some reason, due to me screwing something up or what. If I press "Update GB-PVR" on the Enhancer menu, , it will say it's updating but it looks like it just hangs. I only get 10 channels, so EPG things usually don't take long.

Logs will be added in a little bit.

Here's the logs. The one and only time I tried "get all" in the Enhancer is at the end of the log.

Two particular shows to check for info would be Family Guy and Wishbone. They are both on twice a day here. Often, the second Wishbone airing won't get an episode title renaming from Renamer and only gets the name of the show + the air date.

And now that I wrote that, that must be where the Renamer error comes from around 3 or 3:05pm. That airing ends at 3pm, and as far as I can tell is often (at least the past week) a different episode than the one that airs early in the morning. So that explains what triggers the Renamer error, now to figure out how to stop it.

And like I said, I do see some extra info in the TVdbXML folder such as actors, runtime, and first air date, but that info doesn't make it into the EPG for some reason. I can checkmark everything in Enhancer, checkmark Commit, then Go, and the new EPG will be a little smaller than the original one.

Your UpdateEPG indicates that you installed the Manager, choosing to rem everything else out.

If you have Manager configured correctly that's good. If you don't, then give up on it for right now. Open the UpdateEPG and un rem everything and remove the crap (sorry, I'll make it neater in next versions)

Anyway, I believe that using a Scheduled Task and NOTHING in the UpdateEPG is the best way.

I'll add one more thought before I go to bed.

Make sure everything works manually first, then install it into either the Task Schedule or the UpdateEPG.bat.

When the UpdateEPG is clean, or there are no tasks, then you can run the grabber and enhancer and update the epg in the correct order using the manager.

Once it looks right, install it into either the UpdateEPG.bat or Task Schedule.

Although I prefer the task to the batch I have tested both, and written the programs so they they don't step on each other.

Very last thing for tonight. I noticed why you had that bad filename, and the progra~1 error. If you could try installing the Ultra stuff and have your xmltv.xml file saved in the suggested default location of C:\EPG, that might help a lot of things..

If that solves it, I will make the directory stuff better, even though I hate having stuff in sub's directory

I put the EPG in C:\EPG. I couldn't get Enhancer to update the EPG even before adding Manager, so I think Manager is looking good, but I did try things manually again with the same result: extra info is in the TVdbXML folder but doesn't make it into the .tmp or new EPG.

Won't know if the new EPG location helps the 3pm Renamer error until next week when that show is on again. Even worse for testing is the second airing of that show is sometimes the same as the morning episode and sometimes not, so it's not a constant in the testing equation. I've even seen the second episode be different but get named the same as the first. I don't know if that might be a PBS thing or a cache thing.

So, just tossing out a quick update. I'll read this thread (again!) to see if I'm missing something with Enhancer and continue to poke at it with a stick.

I didn't know what you were talking about when you said 3:00PM , but now I know you scheduled a show. What's the show name?
