I am having issues with certain channels where GBPVR crashes on me after watching an HD channel for awhile. It seems as if it is a signal issue where if gbpvr loses a lock it crashes.

Can it be helpful to put an amplifier on the cable input when using qam? If so, does anyone have any recommendations on a quality amplifier?

Thanks!

When it crashes, does a file get created in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump?

If not, we might be able to try the utility from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/286350. The relevent section on how to use this seems to be:
Quote:ADPlus -crash -pn myapp.exe
This command runs ADPlus in crash mode for the process named Myapp.exe. ADPlus waits for an exception to occur, or for a user to press CTRL+C in the minimized debugger window, to generate a memory dump file and to detach the debugger.
Of course substituting myapp.exe with pvrx2.exe...

No minidump file is created. I installed the windows debugger and ran ADPlus with gbpvr. When adplus runs it is requesting a path to the symbols files. Do I have these files or am I SOL on being able to run the debugger against gbpvr?

It shouldnt need them. Did you run it with the command line I specified above?

Does it let you tell it any old path, or does it complain that path doesnt have the symbols?

Had to change the command parameter from -pn to -sc. -pn expects a running process and since I am running FSE it's impossible for me to get at the command line once gpbvr is running. Anyway currently running adplus now against gbpvr and will let you know what I find.

Attached are the logs after the crash. I removed the dmp files because they are immense, some are 200MB in size.

Hope this helps.

It looks like the crash was in HCW_mcm2vd.ax, which I think is the Hauppauge video decoder. My first suggestion would be to try a different video decoder.

Hmmm, I am not running the Hauppage decoder, I am using nVidia PureVideo. Or at least I was. I reran gbpvr after the crash dump and it crashed again and the desktop colors were completely hosed and my nVidia decoder was missing. I rebooted and the nVidia decoder was still missing. I had to reinstall the decoder again in order to get it back.
