I've had this problem for quite a while and am finally trying to solve it. Smile

Whenever I have a "buffer" recording.. meaning I am watching something in timeshift mode and I choose to record it, then the Recording shows up "twice".. here's a screenshot to illustrate:

one of the recordings "Anderson Cooper 360" for instance, plays back the recording and the OSD has the proper show info. The other one is titled by the filename and has "(Manual Rec)" tacked on.. and the OSD just shows the .mpg filename and does not have any show info (if that helps diagnose the issue)..

also, see how the first Anderson Cooper show has a listed duration of 6 hours? That's super weird and makes me think that the software is seeing it as just an MPEG file without any program information...

anyone know what is going on here? It is extremely annoying since almost all my recordings are done this way and I end up with two of everything.

hehe, I live in the good 'ole USA Smile But I get international channels from Pakistan on the dish, so that's how I get those channels.

Having said that, you can indeed watch Anderson Cooper in Pakistan as well. along with Bill O'Reilly if you for someone reason wanted to. Rolleyes

seriously though, is anyone else having this problem or have any clue about this? It drives me nuts!

Nope, Buffer has its own directory.. and Recordings has its own...
this whole thing is just baffling.. I don't get it at all, completely stumped.

aha.. I think I've found the problem.. it's in the Database itself! GBPVR is creating duplicate entries, and one of them is illegitimate and doesn't have a program ID even:

the quality_level is messed up also, as is the time duration.

sub, can you please look into this? looks like there is indeed a problem in the program writing to the database for these Buffer recordings, and it is a consistent problem.

See if the attached patch sorts it out for you.

Tried out the patch... now we have one recording, but the "wrong one."

Now, the recording doesn't show up in the database at all, and the "Manual Recording" MPEG file one is what shows up in the UI. Sad .. meaning, I lose the show information and all of that..

But I feel we're almost there since this patch did have some effect.. even though it was the opposite one, hehe.. I hope you can figure this one out, thanks sub!

Ok sub, I think I've figured this one out...

when I choose to record 'until I exit live TV'... then it marks it as a Manual Recording, which I guess makes sense since it could potentially cross into the next scheduled program.

is there anyway that you could maybe make an option to let the software mark a 'until you exit' recording as a regular recording and not Manual? I only ask because on the international channels I watch, they often go over the EPG boundaries and so by habit I like doing this style of recording..

or is there a way we could tell it to extend the recording instead of stopping at the EPG's listed program end? That would be a good way to fix this issue..
