I hope to use GB-PVR in a car, using a touchscreen rather than a remote control.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any way to traverse menus without the use of a keyboard / remote.

Adding this functionality should be fairly straightforward by making the down / up arrows clickable and providing additional cursor buttons where necessary, for instance the TV guide.

What do you think?

Cheers,

Steve
GB-PVR 1.0.16 (recording service and database) running on: VIA EPIA 5000 (533Mhz), 512MB, 40GB HD, PVR-150MCE, USB-UIRT controlling Sky Digital box.

GB-PVR 1.3.11 (front-end and client for above) running on: Toshiba NB100 netbook 1.6Ghz, 160GB HD, 1GB RAM.

Front-end viewed on 2xMVPs (using mvpmc dongle).

Its on my list of things to do, but its pretty low priority.

On the main menu, you can make sub menus etc so that up down buttons are required. On other screen without main menu buttons (like tv guide), you can return to the main menu by clicking near the low left corner of the screen.

I'm getting ready to try my hand at a "car pc" and touch screen support would be great. Is it possible the lower left corner "exit from guide" thing can be applied to all plugins? If so how?

Also is it possible to add the Red/Blue/Green/Yellow, button's to the screen? (or at least the functions they provide). Can thtis be done with the current skinning abilities?

EDIT: I didn't notice this thread was a year old. Sorry, but I'm still interested in the answers to my questions. Thanks

No. Sorry this only works with the two plugins I created that dont have 'main menu' buttons (tv guide and search guide).

You should be able to edit you skin to show you what the buttons do. I dont want to do this to the default skin, since many people including myself dont use a remote with these buttons.

I for one am going to build a new HTPC with a touchscreen TFT.
I haven't thought about the problem until I read this little thread. Indeed, it's going to be a major issue with my new HTPC, that no navigation buttons are provided in the main menu and tv guide.

i COULD instead use the webadmin and operate gbpvr from a browser. Webadmin has these functions at least on the tv guide, however I can already see my wife look at me funny because I spent so much on "something" that is so clumsy to use. So this is no real option.

Sub, would you be open to re-think this with regards to your priorities list? I'm not a programmer, but is it right to assume that this enhancement of the interface is not a big deal, really?

Best Regards,
Frank

Sorry, I wont be able to do anything in the next release. It may seem like no big deal, but its actually quite time consuming to do this. GB-PVR is not like a standard Windows app where you get this stuff from free.

I still hope to add more mouse/touch support in future though.

Sorry, but seeing as the PC client in .98.8b works so well, I'm going to dig out my old tablet PC to see how it works as a client - so I'm bumping this thread.
