EPG doesn't update

Someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong, cus obviously I am. Yes I'm a noob to gbpvr it looks like an awesome alternative to wmc. I'm running vista 32bit ultimate edition, with a Happauge pvr 150 internal card.

When I go to use the Config utility, and setup my capture devices, I click "add" and the "Create Capture Source" window pops up, then select all the appropraite hardware etc, and I leave EPG (what does this stand for) source as the XMLTV plugin. Then I click on "Update EPG" and a little status window pops up and says it's retrieveing a list....but nothing EVER pops up in the big window below the options where I guess would be a channel listing.

Then I try it anyways and go back into GBPVR to try out the live tv and it tells me that there are no channels setup and to use the Update EPG button to force the system to import the latest channels etc.......

So what am I missing here.....I know it's something simple but everything I've tried doesn't work and I did add the channels manually...but then my scheduler would not work.....

EPG stands for 'Electronic Program Guide'. This is your TV Listings. You need to have TV Listings to use GB-PVR.

In the US most people get their TV listings from either http://www.schedulesdirect.org or http://www.cttvlistings.com. Both are pay services, but both are less than $15 a year. Both have trial services if you want to try it out before commiting to pay.

Once you've got an account setup with one of these two, then set the EPG source to use that respective service, enter you account username/password, then hit the 'update epg' button and you should be away.

ok...I joined the zap2it or whatever it's called.....I downloaded a listing and then set my xml file as the one i downloaded and then tryed again to update EPG and still nothing appears in the box below.

I assume you've setup your channel list at the website of whichever of those two providers you choose? ie, selected which cable provider, and which channels you wanted.

Go into your capture source settings in the config app and set the EPG Source to the either 'Schedules Direct' or 'CT TV Listings' and enter your account details, then hit the 'Update EPG' button.

ok...somehow......i got it to work.....woohoo....LOL.....now I need to try it all out...thanks for your help!
