Hello,

When I try and search for a show it sits there for about 3-4 minutes then takes me to a blank page. Any ideas why?

I'm running the latest GBPVR (1.1.5) and the recently released Web Admin (70). I attach the log from Web Admin.

Further to this, I see the errors about CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll. I have copied this (I verified 3.0.2847.27302) to all sorts of directories, plugins, plugin, plugins/common, plugin/common, web/plugin, web/plugins, web/plugins/common, web/plugin/common and nothing gets rid of that error.

Thanks

Graham

The dll needs to be in the web\bin directory to get rid of the error. As for as the search taking forever....not sure what would cause that.....nothing changed in that arena.

What search criteria are you using when you do the search?

Any criteria, I've tried by phrase, i've tried picking a channel, and i've tried using the time/day to filter down to a timeslot. They all just sit there

I am thinking that you may have a bad install off the ewa.......have you followed the directions on the wiki and loaded the most current release: build 70?

Reinstall based on the above....if you are still having problems then answer these questions.

How many days do you download for your EPG?
What is your EPG source?
How many channels are in your EPG?
Are you using table of tree view for the results?

Hi John,

I already tried the reinstall, same problem.

*How many days do you download for your EPG? 15 days
*What is your EPG source? yapi2xml
*How many channels are in your EPG? I have Dish Network so XML contains ~1000 channels
*Are you using table of tree view for the results? It doesn't give me an option to select which one, I assume this option is only available after you actually see results, and I never have seen results

Ok...you are probably just maxing out your memory if you are not narrowing your search by day range and/or channel range.

The search pulls all programmes in the EPG (if you do not use a date it will look at everything that you have).....

So say you were searching for CSI.

It would pull every programme in your EPG for every channel.....for every time slot.

So we have 24 hours in a day....if we assume that there are 10 1 hour programmes on average with the other 14 hours being 1/2 hour shows.... each day for any given channel ...... we end up with 38 programme slots for a channel each day.

38 programme slots * 1000 channels = 38,000 programme segments to look at for a single day.

38,000 programme segments per day * 15 days in the EPG = 570,000 programme segments to search.

This number will go down as you start narrowing your search by using day ranges and channel ranges.

I am sure that this is the issue.....the search is not really robust enough to handle this large of search base.

Hi John,

Your right. I selected a day and a channel and now it works.

Unfortunately doesn't this make the search somewhat useless? the search in the PVRX2 GUI can search all 570,000 program segments in a couple of seconds. Why is there such a disparity?

It also seems to take about 5 minutes just to search one day.

Thanks

Good question.....Search was written before I took over supporting EWA so it is what it is..... Rolleyes

I will check with sub on how search is implemented into GBPVR native to see if the same thing can be done in EWA.

Load up the attached beta and let me know if this now works for you. sub provided direction on how GBPVR native is searching.....it was not hard to apply the model to EWA.

Let me know.
