Hi

I'm a bit confused.

I am using PVRX2 and have both a client and server system.

Which version do I need to install SearchWiz or SearchWizX2, can you point me to the latest one.

I have tried 2 versions but on the client, one does not appear in the config and the other says there are no listings.

also, is it possible to change the name in the PVRX2 menu?

cheers

If you are using PVRX2, you should use SearchWizX2.
  • First get it running on the server.
  • Now load it on the client. (should be streaming, if not, set to streaming, set the server name, then set back)
  • On the client, run the GBPVR config, and select the plugin settings.
  • Check the CopyDBFromServer setting.
SearchWizX2 should now copy the db from the server when first starting up on the client.

You may be able to change name via the language.xml file, not really sure.

Ok - thanks for the info - I missed the check box setting.

I notice you put a new version up so I will use that one too.

Cheers

Oh dear - I tried to install a graphics card and the drivers mesed up my install - had to start again :eek:

I'm now where I was 2 days ago.

I ticked the copy DB from server but nothing is there when I search.
It works great on the server but not the client.

Where is the DB I assume if I get the TV guide correct then it sould also be there for searchWizX2?

Hopefully you can give me another pointer.

cheers

Have you set up the client in the gbpvr config program.
  • On the Capture Sources tab, make sure you have selected "Configure this machine to act as a client"
  • Supply the server name and database share settings.
It physically copies the db from the server to the client box so that the sql queries run faster. But, in order to do so, you must configure the client machine to be a client (above), AND check the box (CopyDB) in the SearchWiz config.

Yep done those.

How does it get the database and where is it?
I have shared gbpvr , on the server it is c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr
on the client it is \\media-pc\gbpvr

Is there any log I can see if it actually finds the database?

cheers

It copies the database based on the share name. The share name should be in format:
\\Server\Share
Where
\\Server is the name of the GBPVR server PC
\Share is the name of the Share you've manually setup in windows explorer.

This ALSO needs to be define in the "Sources" tab in the GBPVR config.

For example, my server name is BUBBA, and my share name is gbpvr. The gbpvr share maps to c:\Program Files\denvz\gbpvr. So from the client PC I should be able to type in \\BUBBA\gbpvr in windows explorer and see the gbpvr directory on my server

I've got that all set up as well.
Is there any debug log created?

cheers

You should be able to see messages in the pvrx2.exe.log file on the client machine.

When SearchWiz plugin initializes, it outputs a comment block which indicates if client mode is on:
Code:
2007-12-28 16:38:45.218    VERBOSE    [1]    SearchWizX2:   Current Skin          : - C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\
2007-12-28 16:38:45.218    VERBOSE    [1]    SearchWizX2:   Running on MVP        : - False
2007-12-28 16:38:45.218    VERBOSE    [1]    [B]SearchWizX2:   Running as Client     : - True[/B]
Then later in the log, you should see:
Code:
2007-12-28 16:38:51.921    VERBOSE    [1]    SearchWizX2.core: constructor- Client mode, local db requested.
...
2007-12-28 16:38:52.328    INFO    [8]    SearchWizX2: CopyDBFromServerThread()- BEGIN
2007-12-28 16:38:52.328    INFO    [8]    SearchWizX2: CopyDBFromServerThread()-   FROM: \\bubba\gbpvr\gbpvr.db3
2007-12-28 16:38:52.328    INFO    [8]    SearchWizX2: CopyDBFromServerThread()-     TO: Plugins\SearchWizX2\gbpvr.db3
...
2007-12-28 16:39:05.328    INFO    [8]    SearchWizX2: CopyDBFromServerThread()- END

It seems on my client, the process seems to hang when I attempt a search, perhaps I broke something in the last release, I'll keep you posted.

EDIT: I had a bad filter, that is why it seemed to hang. I fixed it and all works fine on the client.

Hi

Looking at the gbpvr.db3 data base file that is in plugin\searchwizx2 it has an old date - Feb 2007 - I don't believe this is mine!!

I also see the search query includes the time which this gbpvr.db3 has nothing older in it.
WHERE (p.name like '%a%' ) AND p.end_time >= '2007-12-28 22:15:05.00' GROUP BY p.name

Deleting the db3 file and starting pvrx2 the same file arrives - ah ha its from the clients local data base not the server.

I also get in the log on the client

2007-12-29 10:28:27.750 VERBOSE [1] SearchWiz2: Current Skin : - D:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\
2007-12-29 10:28:27.750 VERBOSE [1] SearchWiz2: Running on MVP : - False
2007-12-29 10:28:27.750 VERBOSE [1] SearchWiz2: Running as Client : - True

So yes it is configured and it thinks it's running as a client but it is still copying from the client side rather than the server - a bug ?

I have noticed that the following:
2007-12-29 10:28:27.703 VERBOSE [1] Looking for missing assembly in D:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\plugins\SearchWizX2: WizWebHelper, Version=1.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
2007-12-29 10:28:27.703 VERBOSE [1] Looking for missing assembly in plugin\common: WizWebHelper, Version=1.0.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null
2007-12-29 10:28:27.703 VERBOSE [1] Assembly found...
2007-12-29 10:28:27.718 VERBOSE [1] ...and loaded

Is this indicating some other error as well?

cheers
