Hi JW,

Was wondering if I could raise my hand for two wishes, from past posts:
  • Schedule-able Command-line Version of Moviewizard with command line switches and
  • Delete Watched Shows (Delete dead entries is already implemented thanks, however this is a bit different!)
The first is a monster-wish, as then MW would not need to be run manually. I often record lots of movies not knowing (poor EPG here) what they are or their rating and if MW could run every few days on a batch of selected directories (or all the ones in the config dir tab e.g.) then that would be auto-magic.

Thanks!
k.

I'll take a look at MovieWizManager to see what it would take to provide a command line interface.

I can see the following function being supported from the command line:
  • Load new entries into the db based on some type of list of directories.
  • Load new entries into the db from the newly recorded shows.
  • Check and updated movies that have been moved into 'archived' directories.
  • Delete any movies that do not correspond to file on disk.
  • Delete any movies that are marked as 'Hidden'.
Does that about cover it?

Yup! Awesome, that would do a GREAT job!

Maybe I missed out something, but could you elaborate a bit on 'archived' directories ?
As I happen to move files around from time to time, I'd like to see the latter feature implemented, too. Not necessarily on the command line, though.

Maybe I can help. I never move files around using Windows Explorer if I can help it, but a couple of plugins permit archiving to one or more dirs (my fav XRecord e.g. just recently added this function), VideoArchove does it too, and there's a few batch files around.

They all update the database, which is the important point, otherwise you need to export the xml (using config), rename it and reimport

If you just moved the file you can reimport (I use MpegImport for this).

As jksmurf indicated several programs allow you to archive programs to different directories.

I am planning to add a function in MovieWiz that will attempt to locate a file that has been archived or moved to a new location. I will probably add a config entry where you can supply a list of archive directories, if the movie you've selected does not exist at the location the db points to, it will attempt to locate it in the archive locations, if found, it will update the MovieWiz database automatically.
[EDIT: Senior moment, I already added this feature Big Grin ]

This new function could be run off-line against the full db via the config program or as discussed below in a batch mode via a command-line interface. Additionally, via the plugin when you select a specific movie, it would run the routine real-time if the movie was not found.

I admit I only used the first two tabs of MovieWiz Manager Wink
Will subdirectories be processed ?

Current version, I think it only processes the directories entered, but I can add a flag to include sub-directories.
