Couldn't find any previous posts about this, I guess its not an important feature for most, but how about a way of playing CD's through GBPVR.
At the moment I have Windows Media Player auto play any CD I put In but It would be nice if it was integrated into the program.
Oh yeah, another small thing: It would be cool if the list of files in the video library directory had the same format as in the recordings area. i.e. a list you can scroll down through rather than the big boxes.
Other than that Great software.
keep up the good work Sub [Image: smile.gif]

This is already possible: In the configuration program, goto tab Misc and uncheck " Use Icon View for media libraries". That's all

sub would gbpvr be able to play audio cds? like if say i wrote a plugin that would use the .addtoaudioqueue() method (or whatever its called, i think its that) and passed the cd audio track file (however windows recognises it, i think these a file format its shows it as) would this play?

No, it wouldn't work with the MVP, PVR350 or XCard without reasonably significant work.

but would gbpvr itself be able to play it? like the pvr350 cant playback mp3 files but gbpvr itself can, most people just use a do the loopback thing to get around this, im just wondering if its actually possible for gbpvr to playback cd audio (im not sure what your using for video/audio playback).

my logic is people using the pvr350/xcard could use a loopback cable, people using the mvp shouldnt be using cds in the first place (they would have to goto the computer and insert a cd) they would most likely just be using mp3s. so ignoring them as an issue.

i just tried passing a .cda file, and yeah it failed to play. would it be possible to add the ability to play the .cda file? regardless of the issues of playback on certain devices, since playing a audio cd is a important feature of a htpc.

Thanks, I will check it out.

regarding the CD player, not much of a programmer myself but I recall that in VB 6.0 if you want a CD player in your app you could use a microsoft multimedia control. My feeling was that adding at least a basic CD player would be pretty simple, but maybe Im missing something - I don't know what language GBPVR is developed in and obviously you guys know more about this than me.

I use a PVR350 (but use softwqare decoding !Wink and the sound comes out of my soundcard.

you would want to keep everything running through the same *control* (think thats word im looking for) via gbpvr, so it wont be possible to play mp3s in gbpvr and then say play a cd at the same time, or watch tv and both are going. cd playback would have to be handled by gbpvr, so sub is the only person who could implement this, well others could, but it would be a bad idea.
