By my user id, you might guess that I am a long time Replay TV user. But... been pretty much converted to NextPVR with Kodi for 2 years now. Only the wife still regularly uses Replay TV.
Replay TV had a nice "search" function called "Replay Zones". It allowed you to search for upcoming shows by large categories, like "Football" or any other major sport. Also allowed you to search for Movies by how many stars or genre or other general criteria. It came in very handy when you just wanted to see what movies were coming on TV in the next week or 2.
I have Searchlite installed and do use it from time to time, but it mainly works if you are looking for a specific show or movie. I don't see any way to just look for movies in general much less by genre.
Anyone know of a plugin that might do something near what I am describing?

you can search by genre (of which movies is one) in the NEWA web client.
The TV Listings / Recordings plugin allows you to define some genres that you can search for from with nextpvr itself (I use it to search for movies)

Searchlite with Genrelite lets you drill down into genres. It allows a further filter on Movies

Thanks. I already had TV Listings installed but didn't know it did this. It works just fine. Works with XNEW-A as well.

I found this post and installed as mentioned in it. But it immediately crashes when I try to run genrelite.exe. Tried double clicking on it, run as administrator, and also running it from a DOS window. I am running Win 8.1 with Schedules Direct EPG data. It says "Genrelite has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. etc, etc, etc."

"Attached is the first beta of SearchLite with genre searching support

To enable it, there is a small program called GenreLite.exe installed in the NPVR Program File folder. This program is designed to create a separate database of genres from your XMLTV and Schedules Direct (SD.xml) file. It has only been tested on my XMLTV files so if it doesn't work could you please upload your XML file and I can see if I can add it.

You can run this at anytime by running GenreLite with no options, however once you have confirmed it is working you can add it to the PostUpdateEPG.bat file "

Did you try this from a command prompt

c:
cd \Programs Files (x86)\NPVR
genrelite

If so what is the date of genrelite.exe

I've attached a screen shot.
The date of the file is 1/19/2012.

I had tried to open the file in many ways (including a DOS session), but I did it again from the DOS prompt and I see there are errors indicated which you can probably decipher.
Thanks again.

That is an old version did you upgrade Searchlite in the last couple of years?

Just downloaded it again a few minutes ago from http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...SearchLite.
The file is the same and the results are the same. See new screenshot.
Just tried to install again and pay attention to what it says. Noticed this: I see it "skipped" genrelite.exe. I am making a big assumption, but am guessing it skipped because the version being installed is the same one or an older one. I've been using NextPVR and the other stuff for just about 2 years now, so didn't even have a HTPC back in 2012 (the version of genrelite.exe).
