need to add more disks?

This is an interesting article about this guy that build a disk array out of SATA drives on the cheap using an add-on card.

Anyone have experience with these controllers? After reading the article and doing a little searching I came across this product, Addonics SATA II PCI-X RAID5/JBOD controller, based on the chipset mentioned in the article.
I'm looking to build a RAID-5 array and this sounds like just the thing I'm after, and it's hard to believe the controller can be had for just 80 bucks. |
