OK, I got a laserdisk of Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder concert at a yard sale. It looks great.
I'm not aware that any release has been planned for a DVD version of this.

Oh yah guess I need to find a laser disk player. Smile I read on wikipedia that different models of player had markedly different supported features- surround, dolby, overall quality. any suggestions? Anyone in SE Michigan with a setup? Smile

Thanks for advice; I've never done the laser disk thing. This could be a case where a great yard sale buy makes me spend extra afterwards. But it would be fun to see this particular item from LD with good sound instead of VHS, and to use my fiar use rights to make a DVD. The players have s-video and component out; any way to keep the surround field?

I picked up a laserdisc player a couple of years back for $20, just because I always wanted one! Turns out it's an industrial model (Pioneer LD-V4400). I bought a lot of laserdiscs on ebay, and it's a fun toy to play around with.

Anyhow, after doing a little reading about it this morning, it looks like it does support digital audio, but only 2 channel via the same RCA jacks that output analog audio. I've not tried to wire it up to a computer yet to capture video.
