GB-PVR user Hairy has taken the time to develop a new theme, and has provided it to be included in the Community skin. For some preliminary screen shots see these threads.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=32500

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=31902

I really like this theme and want to see what others think about it. I think it is good enough to be the new default (with Hairy's premission). He provided some alterations to some of the xml's (OSD, Recordings, 8 Channel Guide and a TV guide popup).

I tweaked the popup and some of his original submissions to make it work with other plugins better, and would like to hear some feedback on those willing to test this theme.

This theme is included in the installer only, and cannot be selected using the SkinPlugin until I include it in the SkinPlugin update. I would like to find any formatting issues before I roll out the official release maybe next weekend (I am going out of town after that for about a week.)

This is the link to download it. I have ran thought this on several screens. I imagine some things need tweaking, so please post any suggestions and screenshots.

Download here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/uploads/Skin/Reflect.zip

Please post any support issues in the Community Skin support thread.

Note: for the TV Guide you must have channel icons to see the channels, you can use the skinplugin to select a new TV Guide format to get around this until I fix it.

It would be great to get some suggestions on improvements / formatting. The two that stick out for me are the TV guide and the OSD. It would be good to know if people prefer less channel with larger listings and whether people prefer the traditional layout for the OSD, any feedback would be great.

A huge thank you to fatman_do for all his help, there is simply no way I'd be able to release a full theme on my own.

I personally like the traditional layout of the guide myself but may get use to this version after a short while.
One thing I've noticed is that I don't have station logos and numbers. I checked config and tvguidechannelheader was set to 3 and I changed it back to 1 but I still don't get the logos or the numbers. Is this not functional in this skin?
Nice work! I really do like it.

Cheers pcostanza

As far as I know you should be able to see the logos, from memory I'm pretty sure I just cropped the spacing available for the logos so that the name and number weren't displayed, that way I could put the listings closer and extend them wider. editing these xmls isn't really my forte, maybe fatman_do has a better idea what I did than I doBig Grin

As gEd mentioned, this really clipped along faster than I thought. Any of the formatting I did was based on my own personal preference. I'm more than happy to alter any of it to suit the general consensus. The TV guide formatting is quite rigid to accommodate a fixed size image that gives the beveled look to the listings, but I'd be more than willing to recreate the default 7 channel listings with name and numbers or simple create a bevel image for an existing TV guide format.

What do you think of the OSD?, do you think people would prefer the more traditional screen layout of the time line at the top of the screen?

I like the Display and the beveled look. Maybe, just maybe, the text is a bit too large but that's being mighty picky (though you did ask Smile). I could certainly live with it like it is and may play around with the adjusting the skin thru the menu and see what happens.
As far as the station numbers, I'm still not able to change them but will play with the config and see something changes.
Thanks for asking.

Any suggestions from anyone, I want people to tear it apart.......eh kind of Smile

Thats exactly what I mean, the TV guide is quite rigid and it maybe an option to create a couple of different formats or edit the existing ones. I'd have to run that by fatman_do.

I use TV listings but I enabled TV Guide to see what I think with the new skin.
I don;t really like it as it pretty much only shows the first word of the show name. TV listings looks great however.

The TV guide/Listings needs to be as tweakable as possible as it is probably the most important module and I suspect people have widely varying monitor types/taste and eyesight.

I want to get as much info as I can on the screen but my wife has quite bad eyesight so I have to make sure that it is (just) big enough for her to read.

volume control: looked pretty funky but I didn't like it in the middle of the screen. top or bottom for me.

I plan on changing hairy's tvguide to show the names in case icons are not found. I have to dig into the other xml's to find out what the difference is, but that is an easy enough fix.

I should have a fix out in a few days.

Thanks for all the feed back guys.
