Hi All

I've been getting a problem a few times recently where a recording appears in the 'Recordings' list OK but when it starts to play, the video is a mess and only runs for a few seconds then stops.

It started on only one channel (Channel 4 UK) but seems to be spreading to more now (ITV1, ITV2).

It looks to me like the signal strength is low but I don't really know what to look for in the logs, any help from you experts out there would be very much appreciated.

What is an example recording to look at in the logs? What time should it have started/finished?

Most recent one would be "Tim Burton The South Bank Show". Should have run from 10.40 PM - 11.40 PM (plus 5 minutes padding each end) which it seems to have done, but I only got 50 odd seconds of mangled video with audio that sounded like it was running at double speed.

Also, "Kingdom" got scheduled twice, with the earlier one of the two (9:20 PM - 10:20 PM) failing in a similar way.

Hope this helps.

Your logs show the device losing its signal lock several times during that recording, so it sounds like your signals is too marginal to be reliable.

Cheers Sub - I thought it looked that way. Weird that it's only one tuner of the two, perhaps it's on its way out.

I think it may be a fairly common problem. It's been mentioned a few times on here and I've read of it on the UK Hauppauge forum. They have been replaced without question AFAIK.
