I'm running gbpvr on an XP pro machine with a Hauppauge HVR-1800 tuner.

Watching live tv in PVRX2 works great, but lately I've been finding 0kb recordings of shows. No other errors. It looks like shows are recording when they are supposed to, but the resultant mpeg files end up being only 0kb long.

Any ideas?

zip up and attach your log files from a time when this happened, and someone will have a chance to take a look at it
I'm not always right

Ok, I've tried everything, but havent been able to solve this issue.

Again, I can watch live tv just fine, so I know signal strength is ok and the tuner is working in gbpvr. This is on the analog side because my cable provider doesnt have much for clear QAM, so I have not configured the BDA side of things.

My system: WinXP Pro, on AMD AM2 system with Hauppauge HVR1800 card.

Logs attached showing system with a couple of recent 0kb recordings from past 12 hours.

Ideas anyone?

I am not very experienced at trouble shooting problems like this but did you run ReRegisterFilters.bat?

Yes, I did.

Question for Sub: Is a different filter chain used for viewing live TV vs recording to a file?

Do you have one capture source defined, or multiple?

One- just the analog side of the HVR.
Direct Recording Plugin -> Hauppauge HVR-1800MCE (Analog).

To be honest, I'm not really sure. I've had a couple of looks at the logs and cant see the cause.

Do you have remote access on your machine (like VNC or Remote Desktop)? If so, and you're ok with it, I could connect an take a look. It'd have to be tomorrow though - I'm about to switch off for the day.

Sub,

Sure, I'll open the ports for VNC on the firewall later tonight when I get home
and you can look around when you have time. I'll email you privately the connection details.

The odd thing is it *was* working when I first built the box. After subsequent installs of various codecs, etc., I'm sure something got broken.

There is good news and bad news. The good news (for me) is that it's not a problem with GB-PVR. The bad news (for you) is that its not a problem with GB-PVR. Big Grin

The device doesnt appear to be in a usable state, so wont work in any application. I confirmed this by trying to use the device in GraphEdit, but it simply refuses to connect up to the hardware encoder filter.

I'm guessing this is driver related. You may need to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. If that doesnt work, you might need to talk to Hauppauge about it.
