My recording drive failed last week but I was able to image it and restore the image to a new replacement drive. Everything worked except recordings. I can schedule the recordings and the new folder and recording file is created but the file size is always zero.

Any suggestions?

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Unfortunately I'm a little technology challenged at the moment - I only have access to the internet via small portable internet terminal with no easy way to view the contents of your zip file. Bump this thread in a couple of days and I'll be able to check it out for you.

In the meantime I was well overdue for a CLEAN new install so I'm gonna try that as well and see what happens. I'll post results if any thing changes. Thanks.

Well, thought I would update with what little progress I have made. I actually bit the bullet and decided to do a complete re-install - clean. Kind of a PITA but I was probably overdue. Anyway to my surprise I still can't record anything - everything else seems to work fine including playback, I can schedule recordings and manually start recordings, the guide turns red, the recordings list is updated, the folder and file are actually created... but ...the recording file is zero bytes? I seen something in the log about 'recording is unusually small'

I also tried different native_utilities versions and re-registering muxes. Not exactly sure what either of those do but I read somewhere it may correct the zero length recording problem but no luck.

I am also wondering if this problem is related to the way my user accounts are set up in WinXP. I use two accounts, both with admin privledges but I typically install and maintain/configure GBPVR using one account and the other account is ALWAYS logged in (simultaneously)and that is the account we use for watching GBPVR. I have concurrent users enabled in WinXP - that way I don't interupt wifey watching tv while I am remotely logged-in using the other account. Works great but i know that setup is fairly unique to me so I wonder if that could affect something - i don't know ...like filter registration or something like that? Then again maybe I'm grasping at straws... Wink

Sub,

OK, it happened again today. Four shows have ended up with zero bytes. All were being recorded on a digital station (10.2):

- Ask This Old House
- Hometime
- New Yankee Workshop
- This Old House (Still recording when I zipped the logs)

I only looked briefly at the logs, but noticed one reference saying "show is unusually short"?

My signal strength is fairly low on that channel today (about 20.5 or higher), but I'm getting very few errors.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Anthony

No response. Can you see anything in my logs that might be causing the zero byte recordings?

It looked like it started the recordings, then stopped them a second or so later. Why?

Help!
