Have a look at the test on Tomshardware for the latest 780 chipset from AMD. It plays full HD without any problems with the on-board video. This looks to the ultimate for a HTPC.

On a slight aside from its HTPC pedigree - Im looking to replace a dead motherboard on my main PC, wanting a good gaming motherboard. I liked the fact that the onboard graphics can be used in crossfire mode with other ATI cards, but cant find anywhere to say which cards will be compatible with the onboard graphics? Does anyone know of any details of which would be, i have an X1900 GT 256mb.

Im on a tight budget and the missus wouldnt agree with me spending another few hundred quid on a new graphics card as well, she draws the line at mobo and new chip & memory... im trying to get something for nothing here!

I already have a 690G board in my HTPC and this could replace it in a year or so when i (finally) get some high def content available in the UK?

Looks like you don't need too much CPU either.
That's a cheap HTPC.

Thanks - was hopeful it might boost the performance of my existing card, but this obviously isnt the case!

Oh well. Will make a brilliant client pc though, my 690G board needs a riser card to get HDMI, this doesent.

If you think the regular 780 boards are nice, take a look the second MSI board here:

Disappointing that there's no gigabit ethernet with that.
