I remember reading somewhere on here that the recording audio level had been increased in the most recent updates.

I started with 0.23.11 and am know using 0.23.13 and have noticed slight distortion of the audio. It sounds like maybe the audio is being overdriven when it is recorded. Kinda like when you turn the stereo up to much except I don't have the volumn turned up!!

Has anyone else experienced this??

Sub,
Keep up the good work!!

It hasn't been increased, but this maybe the case on your machine. In the past I just set the volume to something that seem about right for me. Many people complained it was too loud or too quiet, so I changed it to instead read these settings from the defaults stored by the drivers in the registry.

Specifically, these settings are read from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Globespan\Parameters\ivac15\Driver

The settings used are: HcwAudioScart1Volume, HcwAudioScart1Prescale, HcwAudioFMAMPrescale, HcwAudioNicamPrescale

What should you set these to? Sorry I dont know.

Sub,

Apparently these settings do not exist when using the PVR-150. I have read in some other threads over at shspvr.com that other users are having the same problem with the 150(recording volume to high). They also do not have those values in the registry. If these values do not exist where does GBPVR get it's info??

You're right that these registry settings dont exist for the PVR150 drivers, but there is also no place to set the volume on these cards, so in effect GB-PVR doesn't require a setting. You just get whatever the defaults are.

jjakober--

Did you ever get this resolved? I just purchased a PVR500 (which also lacks the registry settings mentioned elsewhere) and have very annoying audio clipping. Here's the e-mail I sent to tech support at Hauppauge:

I've got a DirectTV D10 receiver with the A/V (RCA jacks) connected to the A/V jacks on the PVR500. Using GBPVR (http://www.gbpvr.com), I attempt to watch Live-TV and get terrible audio clipping. It is very annoying. Other information about my system:

Motherboard: A7N8X-VM/400 / AMD Athlon XP 2700+ / 512MB RAM
Video/TV-OUT card: Leadtek GeForce2

I've visited numerous sites and have seen references to tweaking registry settings, but the settings I've seen listed don't even appear in my registry. I've tried installing the drivers that came with the CD (WinTV-PVR-150500MCE_2.0.18.22316_WHQL_signed). I've tried the WinTV-PVR-150 driver beta (WinTV-PVR-150/500 driver version 2.2_23123) which says it fixes audio input problems... it was an improvement, but the clipping was still present.

Can you help me out? Is there a way to manually adjust the audio input level?

Try the most recent v2.0.30.23123 drivers. They may help.

You can download them from here: http://www.shspvr.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8023

Doesn't look very promising given the follow-up posts, but I'll give it a try. Thanks for the link.

Alternatively you could wait for some newer drivers.
