Hi there

im totally new to this, and am trying to set one of these up

i have ethernetted my whole house, and now have a fairly decent pc under the stairs (2gb ram, 3 g cpu or something, swiped from work Smile) with a nova-t 500 dual thingy pci card and a single mvp (for now) at the other end

anyhow, after tryin to read myself throught the config documentation, i have finally gotten to the point of settin up the capture source(s) set two up as the card is dual.. aparently..

and cant remember quite where it did it, but it found all the channels, and now if i go to the channel tab on the config, all the channels are there..

however, when trying to watch live tv from the MVP i get nothing..
if i try the PVRX2 - i get vmr9 not supported on this pc..
so i set it to vmr7.. or at least i thought i did, but still .. well unable to watch these channels, (the ones i actually saw running as it was looking for them initially - so clealry there is enough signal etc) just cant get the damn thing to work

im sure i have simply missed something (fingers x'ed) but any pointers would be gratefully recieved, as the only aerial coax now lives under the stairs, so cant actually ever watch tv again if i cant get this working..

the mrs will beat me// please help Smile

im thinking that it may have something to do with the epg.. but sure that was .. seemingly working before, hence me seeing all the channels as it searched for that first time..
i am assuming i can use the DVB EPG, rather than the xml one, but maybe im barking up the wrong tree..
thanks in advance - i hope

ok i have deleted the capture sources and started again

here are the step i took

capture source tab >
untick this is a client
click add source

pick digital recording plugin
click settings
check the only show connected devices
>> there are now 4 things in the list
Hauppage Nova-DT #1 DVB-T
Hauppage Nova-DT #2 DVB-T
Hauppage Nova-T-500 DVB-T (1)
Hauppage Nova-T-500 DVB-T (2)

so picked the penultimate choice of those 4.. (hope this is the correct one)

device number: set to 1
select my region/transmitter (whitehawk hill)
CLICK OK

EPG bit: pick DVB EPG Broadcast
then clicked map digital channels to EPG
>> it goes off and finds all of the possible channels in the new dialog and on closing that asks if i want to impott the DVB EPG now.. i click YES
all channels now in the main 'Edit Recording source' dialog

it then pops up another dialog saying updating EPG

Scanning T: C66, ... etc - although seems to time out on all of them. takes an age to timeout

i then ok all the way out..

then .. check the other tabs.. the channels tab has stuff in

back to the telly, tv guide..
this now has all the channels but (no show details) on al ltimes

go to livetv on the main menu
screen goes black
then to mvp - contacting servers

then back to main menu.. Sad

feel very close to getting it to work..

but so far away Smile

thanks

Try viewing the tv guide then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

hi sub

thanks very much for your reply

logs attached (im assuming you mean the whole log folder, which is what this is)

so, went into TV guide, which seems to have a couple of bits in it now
but selecting one of those to 'watch'
kills it and reboots my MVP
Sad

thanks so much

i assume there is a paypal donate for this project which i will happily do once im up and running Smile

ok little update
got it working through gbpvr with tv, recording it playing it back, works perfectly fine

however, when trying to watch any of it on the MediaMVP - it crashes it every time

The first thing you need to fix is that the DVR-MS mux is not compatible with live tv on MVP. You need to install a mux that produces .mpg files, so either the Cyberlink or ATI mux. Links can be found here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25630

yay, sorted

thanks, my bad for prolly not reading that bit in the manual.

great stuff

now just to get the DVDs playing from .dvd files
and center the mpgs on playback Smile

made a small donation, hope it helps to ease the pain from idiots like myself

Sorry, there is no built in support for playing DVDs on the MVP. You'd have to rip them to .mpg files to play them, or try the XDVD plugin.

Check the wiki for the MVP Position plugin. I think sub posted that the author doesn't hang around here any more, but the plugin worked great for me the last time that I used it.

MVP Position won't move the actual mpeg video.
