Now that the wraps have been taken off of Hauppage's HD-PVR, has anyone heard anything about Hauppage developing an HD-MVP? I know they were working on one last year, but haven't heard anything since. Anyone know anything they can share? Smile

LA.

(yes, I know about the PCH, that would be one of my choices if Hauppage doesn't kick out an HD-MVP...still on the fence).

I think the previous news of the hd-mvp were rumours fabricated in the minds of hopeful buyers. My favourite was the one from an ex-member who lived near Hauppauge NY.

I will stand by my earlier personal opinion that I would find it highly unlikely that even if the product was developed It would probably not use the old protocol or be compatible with their old server or GBPVR.

I am not saying rush to the NMT it definitely has cons to, but don't expect that an "HD-MVP" would be a perfect solution just because it has the Hauppauge name on it.

Some people on other forums have reported responses from Hauppauge (via email) of late May (or early June), back from the original April.

Thanks much for the replies.

It seems the emails from Hauppage Sales vary depending on whom replies. Early last year I sent an email asking about their plans for an "HD MVP". The response was that one was "in the works" and check back in 6-months for an update. Well, I never did get back to them...life kinda got in the way. Smile But I finally sent an email shortly after posting here and the response was quite different. "there are no plans currently to offer an HD MVP but we may revisit in the near future" (or something like that).

I kinda figured already that the existing MVP would not resemble any future MVP. In fact, I was hoping it wouldn't Smile But now that I have a second, quite-different response from Hauppage, I'm looking elsewhere. The PCH is out and looking pretty solid, I may be heading in that direction at this point. And with GBPVR being able to be presented on the PCH, that just lends more fuel to my fire. Wink

I don't care about an HD-MVP (especially since the PCH is looking so promising) - I just want Hauppauge to hurry up w/ the HD-PVR component input capture card.
GBPVR v1.4.7
Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 GHz
4 GB RAM, 160GB system drive
640GB recording drive
PVR-500 - analog cable stations
HDHomeRun - ASTC via antenna
nVidia GeForce 8600GT
1 PCH @ 1080p componenent (was NTSC via composite)
1 PCH @ 1080p HDMI (was component)

I did know that - not sure why I called it a "card".

Any word on a release date?

I'm not sure. The most recent comments I've seen indicated about one to two months, so not far away now.

HDCP is for digital connections. This uses analog component video, so doesnt need to support HDCP.
