In order to upgrade to the latest version, do I have to uninstall and start over? If I do, there's no listing for GBPVR in Add/Remove programs in XP. I tried installing the latest version without the uninstall but to no vail - mentions an error (nonspecific). What do I do?

No, you don't uninstall anything; just run the new installer and it should upgrade and keep everything intact. What sort of error are you getting?

Nothing in particular. "Fatal error: Installer has ended because it has encountered an error". BTW, how would I uninstall GBPVR? There's nothing for it in "Add/remove Programs" in control panel.

I have found that the GB-PVR entry only appears in "Add/Remove Programs" in the account from which it was installed. For example, I have both Administrator and User accounts, and it only shows up in one, depending on where I installed it from.

Using XP, I had a listing for it in add/remove and used that and deleted the entire GBPVR folder after getting a similar error. I thought it was working fine despite the error, but problems cropped up such as locking PVRx2 up when setting a program in TV Guide to record. Seems pretty solid so far after the full add/remove uninstall and delete.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:
