I put my machine on standby mode, and something keeps waking it up 5 minutes later. It does it on hibernate too. I can't tell what's doing it. Is there anyway to tell? How do I prevent it?

It still does it when GBPVR is off (just desktop only). I don't see anything weird running in the background.

I had that problem and searched all over and then found a post that said to go into device manager and look at all my wireless devices such as mice and keyboard and under power management, uncheck the box that says 'allow this device to wake the computer.
I know there's lots of other suggestions as well but XP seems to be better with sleep than Vista and in Vista I use hibernation instead.

Thanks! You helped me go in the right direction and I found it. The network card was enabled to wake up the machine. It was originally waking it up, but once I setup a network share on it, all the other machines were hitting it and waking it up.

Now it wakes up when the server is updating at 2AM..go figure. I don't know if this is working as intended, but at least I could live with this for a while.

I've always felt it's a hit or miss thing anyway but what I suggested fixed things on most of my systems. Some sleep and can't wake without blue screens. Go figure.

The 2AM wakeup could be caused by windows time synch fetching data.

I think I figured that out too. It's waking up at the same time that the server wakes up to do the EPG update. I check the 'do not wake up for EPG' on the client..let's see if that takes care of it.
