As I tend to watch my Moviez with an external player (Zoom Player), I've been struggling how to implement this into MW.

I managed to swap the buttons Play and External Player in MovieInfoPopup.xml, still MW cycles through buttons in the order Play -> External Player. How can I change this ?

Also, I'd like to define a key that plays a movie directly (in the external player) from within the movie list (not the detailed view). How should I go about this ?

Are you asking to have the 1st Play button on the detail screen Play the movie with the External Player? So, in your case you'd want the first tab keystroke to be External Player, the 2nd tab to be Play?

If that is the case, I suppose I could add a checkbox in config to 'Prefer External Player', so that
  • On the list screen, when you select play and the movie is eligible for an external player, that will be chosen instead of GBPVR playback
  • On the detail screen, the order of the buttons will change to External Player then Play.

The Play button (or Ctrl-P) should do this. You can also change the Keymapping file so that the ENTER key can play from the list. See 'Keymapping for Videolist' in the Readme file.

Yep, this would be exactly what I'd need ...

... actually, I was looking in the wrong file. First try was setting ML_PLAY in MovieWiz.xml to ^G - this didn't work.
Having changed the settings in main.xml seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for the fast reply, JW !

I have to correct myself here:

Setting ML_PLAY in MovieWiz.xml to Play worked well only when assigning a key other than ^G (Green Button of my remote translates to Ctrl-G via Girder) to MAIN_PLAY in main.xml.
As the Wiki mentiones that ^G opens the password dialog, here comes my next feature request: Rolleyes

Fully custom configurable keys.

Any chance of seeing this in a future release ?

At this point I have only done minimal key-mapping. I will put it on the list of TODO items.
