I observed that when I play the VIDEO LIBRARY and depress F7 key the aspect ratio toggles to various mode - however this does not work when I play LIVE TV? Is there some config settings I should tweak to make this happen

Works fine here with live tv.

Reproduce the problem then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log, and I'll take a look.

Its because you're using an old version of the Cyberlink decoder which is incompatible with VMR9. This causes the OSD to be missing, and the app to not respond to key presses.

Try a different decoder.

Ok! thanks for your help.

How do I get the latest and greatest Cyberlink decoder? BTW, what version is supported by VMR9?

The Cyberlink decoder comes with most current Cyberlink products. PowerDVD7/8 etc.

I have recently added an HD tuner (WinTV-HVR-1600) to my setup, and am having aspect ratio problems as well. By selecting a video decoder F7 now works, and Auto seems to select a proper aspect ratio that does not cause distortion.

I would say that all channels fall into one of the following categories:

1. HD shows which are widescreen and use bars on top and bottom

2. Standard Def channels which fill the whole 4:3 screen

3. Shows which appear to be 4:3 aspect ratio, but with bars on all sides in the Letterbox aspect ratio. All other aspect ratios distort image.

My issue is with having bars on all sides in the third situation. My thought was that the local stations may be broadcasting these shows with black bars on the sides to present properly on a 16:9 screen. When I open the recordings in Windows Media Player, I can resize the window to remove the top/bottom bars, but I cannot remove the side bars. If these are just part of the broadcast, is there a way that I can zoom the picture so that the actual content will fill my screen?
