I'm looking to buy and download movie and tv episodes, without DRM.

Any sites out there? (No adult material, please.)

Other less than scrupulous routs are ThePirateBay.org

I have never downloaded anything from there no matter how much my stepbrother tells me about it. I prefer to pay for copywrited material. We all need to earn for what we produce.

Right, I'm thinking about how Amazon went DRM free with their MP3s. I'd like to find something like that for movies. I'm willing to pay if their good.

The problem with a lot of the downloads is the quality can be a bit lacking. I thought some major company recently dropped the DRM from their music. (yeah, Amazon maybe I'm thinking of.) I don't know what Microsoft is up to lately, but their online music was $15 a month for any and all you want. I have an MS Zune but only use it for video, so I never looked into the online stuff much.

I would guess anything with DRM could be non-DRM'd without much effort. And you did pay for it anyway.

Hmm, are there ANY (legit) movie download sites that aren't just streaming? There are ways to capture streams, but then that's back to not being "legit" again. I'm having a hard time thinking of any that let you actually keep the movie you paid for, unless it's a really crappy-quality version.

Sure is nice so many legit free TV streaming sites are popping up, though. Half of the older shows available you couldn't buy even if you tried, and they even get me to watch the commercials.

Fatman, TV sharing is a big, gray area. Do you pay for a TV show on a VHS or DVD that your friend recorded himself from TV and is loaning to you? The lines for recorded TV can be hard to draw.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

My opinion only here, but...

TV shows are different than a movie really. Commercial programming pays for the show whereas the viewer is paying for the movies (Box Office, Rentals, Premium Movie Channels). A copied/shared TV show really doesn't impact the revenue stream for that content. Granted, if the commercials are removed one could argue that content is no longer paid for, but heck, ffwd does the same thing doesn't it?

Really, all I am saying is I would rather not download illegal copies of movies. Its a personal thing. Not preaching or standing on a soapbox.

I thought you might have that opinion, just what you said about TPB didn't make that clear since recorded TV shows can be had there as well.

The average movie is so bad nowadays even if it can be gotten free it's often not worth the time to bother watching it. Smile

A tough one for me is is a TV show ripped from a DVD much if any different copyright-wise than that same TV show recorded from an HD antenna? Hmmm.

If MS ever adds more shows to their new Internet TV section in MCE, I've figured out how to stream the same content in GBPVR (without the ads) Wink

Whurlston.... I didn't know MCE had Internet TV. I don't have MCE, I have XP, but would that work for me now?

I use fancast.com (which is off of hulu), but even though the PC is on the TV, clicking out of PVRx2 and mousing to the link is not as intuitive as clicking through the PVRx2 menus. I don't mind commercials for downloaded stuff, they keep them short and simple. I'd love to find a way to integrate it.

It would work for you. I was able to figure out where they get the list of videos and how to stream them. MCE would not be needed. The MCE Internet TV is currently in beta status and they do not have a good selection of series but the concerts and trailers are pretty nice. I would do it similar to the way I'm doing the netflix watch now plugin.
