I'm think of getting an nmt because my server can't handle almost any HD and I just bought an LCD 37" 720p set. I was thinking to move the server to some empty room and have it just record and use the nmt and my other pc client.

Here are the questions:

1) How do you load the gbpvr client software on the NMT? Please tell me it's not a BOOTP/TFTP dongle type of situation - I always HATED that about the MVP.

2) Can it play h264 stuff on .mkv containers (720p and 1080p)? What about .mov and .hdmov (this is primarily for cinemalistings plugin)

3) Does it NEED a hard drive, or can streaming-only work? I have a media gate device right now like the NMT and it doesn't need a hard drive (that's how I'm using it)

4) How long have U.S. customers been taking to get it from order to receipt?

5) Is the theme for gbpvr the same one the server has?

6) Is the resolution the same as the server for the menu? If not, is it 720p-ish?

7) Can you specify username and password for network share access? My NAS must have passwords or else it won't work.

Thanks all!

Yes on the mkv, not sure on the others.

A HD is not required.

3 weeks

Yes

It can be 720P if desired.

Awesome, thanks for the quick answers!

Is there any slight chance that this thing will eventually be capable of doing comskip on files that have them? That will probably have to be a "user plugin" to it, but I was curious as to how viable or possible that would be.

Oh, I also heard about a 5 share limit, is that still the case?

No worries on the load the NMT loads and boots entirely from flash. Currently mvpmcx2 loads pretty much how you want (tftp, http, local drivers) but I am documenting loading from a share.

.mkv .mov etc are containers not formats so some files will work, some won't. The biggest complaint about .mkv files is that the NMT can't process DTS audio natively so you would need a receiver that had a DTS decoder built in.

If you are thinking about replacing a Mediagate with an NMT wth internal storage, the Popcorn Hour might not be your best choice, at least according to Hi-Jack mpcclub http://www.mpcclub.com/modules.php?name=...le&sid=556 it is not even in the top three. However running over the network they are all going to be comparable, The trouble is no one has reported running mvpmcx2 or GBPVR on anything but a Popcorn Hour so that is a risk too. You should note that the number device now has the possibility for a built-in DTS decoder.

We'd like to have comskip support, but its not currently possible. Hopefully we'll learn more later that will make this a possibility.

When you're using the regular PCH interface, I'm not sure, maybe. If you're using GB-PVR on the PCH, there is no limit on the number shares.
