Is there any way I can import my actual movies catalog in MovieWizard?

I have a big catalog made in Ant Movie Catalog, I wish I could import it to gbpvr instead of having to make a new one.

Is any vay to import data from xls, csv, xml, access,... ? It would help me a lot.

Thanks.

I don't use Ant Movie Catalog, but I have had a few requests along this line. I'll need to research the Ant data structure and see if I can build an import tool.

Any chance you could send me a sample of what the XML catalog (or XML export) looks like?

You can get as much information as you need at http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog it's an open source project.

Here you have a sample.xml catalog generated with ant movie maker.

I hope this helps you, it would be a helpful feature to import the catalogs.

Do you typically store the movie's physical disk location in the Media Label field?

Thats the best thing about Ant Media, you can set your own export schemas and make the fields be whatever you want, but along these lines of this request - would you also be able to have an offline collection, where it tells you where in my archive the film is?

I use the media label field to indicate the archive disc name.

Yes, I am adding two fields to MovieWiz, offlineFlag, and offlineID. I am attempting to map the ANT fields to the MovieWiz DB. I'm thinking I'll just mark all ANT imports as offline, set the offlineID and the location to the Media Label field.

Hi Javawiz - with this ant export, did you do anything with the ANT Images? Because of all their scripts the dvdemprire comes out with some really nice 500x500 images, as opposed to the imdb ones which are pretty small.

Any chance that as part of the ANT export/MovieWiz import we could get ant's images?

I just exported as xml and it take the images and numbers them:
Code:
<Movie Number="1" Checked="True" MediaLabel="C2D01" MediaType="XviD DVD" Date="10/05/2008" Rating="6.2" OriginalTitle="Billy Madison" FormattedTitle="Billy Madison" Director="Tamra Davis" Producer="Tim Herlihy (written by) &, Adam Sandler (written by)" Country="USA" Category="Comedy" Year="1995" Length="89" Actors="Adam Sandler,Darren McGavin,Bridgette Wilson,Bradley Whitford,Josh Mostel,Norm MacDonald,Mark Beltzman,Larry Hankin,Theresa Merritt,Dina Platias,Hrant Alianak,Vincent Marino,Jack Mather,Christopher Kelk,Marc Donato" URL="http://imdb.com/title/tt0112508" Description="Billy Madison is a 27 year old non-working immature idiot. His father Brian Madison who runs Madison Hotels is retiring and is thinking of handing his company to Billy, but also thinking of giving it to Eric Gordon, a weasel-like co-worker of Madison Hotels. Billy strikes a deal with his father to go through grades 1-12 to earn the company. He still goofs off in school and tries to score with his teachers, including his sexy third grade teacher, Veronica Vaughn." Comments="This is one of those lucky cases where the opening sequence of a movie gives you an excellent idea of what you are in for.||If you do not enjoy Billy's sunblock song, or the bit with the penguin, then you must turn off the movie and stop being such a nag about it.||But for those of us who happen to enjoy movies that are silly and stupid, this is one of the best ones out there." VideoFormat="XviD" AudioFormat="AC3 (Dolby Digital)" Languages="English" Picture="Mine_1_683887687.jpg"/>

Yes, MovieWiz will use the ANT image file.

If I understand how ANT works, your ANT catalog directory should contain a file "Mine_1_683887687.jpg".

When you import the ANT xml extract, it should copy that file into the gbpvr/media/art directory. MovieWiz should then use that image when displaying the entry.

yeah you're right. for some reson first time I looked at import I ignored the ANT import radion button - DOH!!

Have got all of that to work.

Any way that I can set my "Location" and offline ID field to the ANT Medialabel field? You seem to be generating a number/id based on the db name.

This is where I'm putting the disk id for offline movies.

Otherwise its all looking really good.
