Hi all,

I've upgraded to 1.2.9 after not having moved away from 0.99.12 for a long time.
I can't seem to make fast-forward work. It only skips. This is one feature that my wife holds very dear. We get a lot of programs with subtitles, and this allows her to watch shows in 1/2 the time (whew!). Still, CTRL-F and even the on-screen controls with the mouse just seem to skip forward.

Second, is there a skin that doesn't have the "feature" of highlighting by changing font-size of the highlighted words? This is so annoying to our eyes. Can I cancel this?

Last thing - the fonts went so small - can someone help me change that? The wife says she can't read the TV guide, or recordings list.

Thanks,
GGF

You could try the Blue-Retro-SHV skin...

Sorry, but you can only skip these days. Double speed playback was too flakey so I didnt bother implementing support for it in the PVRX2.

Sorry, there is also no way to disable this. I'll try to add something in a future release. Are you talking about the main menu, or buttons on the screens like Video Library etc?

Hi,

I gotta have double-speed playback. Can I use it with the old UI?

Yes - I am talking about the main menu...

Thanks,
GGF

Probably. I havnt personally used the old UI in very long time, so cant remember for sure.

1.2.9 was the last release to include GBPVR.exe. Future release will only include PVRX2.exe.

Alrighty. I tried the old GBPVR.exe, and must tell you that 1.2.9 is the first version that has flaky double-speed playback for me... I am pretty sure with the right decoder it will work fine.

Anyhow, how big of a donation will convince you to add this "beature"? Just make it a non-default with a warning and YMMV or something.

The attached patch, along with adding <AllowDoubleSpeedPlaybackOnPVRX2>true</AllowDoubleSpeedPlaybackOnPVRX2> to config.xml will try to enable FF.

Sorry, you're out of luck on the menu request. Maybe in a future release.

Hi Sub,
Gee thanks. That was quick (and painless on my side)! As always, you provide amazing support.
I tried this, and like you said - it is flaky. Flaky in the sense that the playback is perhaps x1.1, or x1.2, not close to x2, and jittery (like a start-stop problem, but the motion is x1.5 for 1 second then x1 for another). It makes motion seem jittery.

Do you think this has something to do with codec? VMR9/EVR?

Regarding the menu - I'll wait.

Thanks,
GGF

It uses the same single 'line of code' call to ask the graph to start fast forward playback as it always has had in GBPVR.exe. Yes, if its flakey its probably related to the combination of decoders you're using. You should see the same behaviour as you'd get in the old GBPVR.exe with the decoders you're currently using - if not, then the video renderer is probably playing some part in the flakeyness.

Thanks, sub, I'll fiddle with it.
