Keep button?

I tried searching for "keep" but I can't since it's a common word, so sorry if this question has been answered already. When selecting a recording, there are options to play, resume, delete, keep and close. What exactly does the "Keep" button do?

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I work on this assumption:-

When setting up season recordings, there is an option to only keep the last nn recordings. When more come along, the earlier ones are automatically deleted.

My assumption is that by clicking the 'keep' button, that recording is never auto-deleted.
