Audio / Config issue

Hi,
I think I have an audio config issue with my machine, but I cant work out how to resolve it.

My PC is connected to a seperates amp using an optical lead
Video Decoder: Intervideo
Audio Decoder: AC3Filter
Audio Renderer: System Default


LiveTV is fine as all TV channels play audio OK.
Music Library - does not output any sound when playing any mp3.
ITunes - outputs audio on the same mp3s fine.
Some .avis do not have sound when watched through Movie Wizard
Those .avis have sound when played using VLC.


My initial hunch was codec as some of the videos would play sound, some wouldnt. Now im not sure sure as Itunes can play all mp3s, but Music Library cannot play any.

Any thoughts on what to check anyone ?

Do you get sound when you play those same .mp3 files in Windows Media Player?

Nope, its dead quiet

windows clicks and trashcan empties make lots of noise though.

It sounds like you've installed something on your machine which has broken the default directshow decoders used for .mp3 files. Hard to guess what that might be.

If you try playing one of these files in PVRX2, then attach the PVRX2.exe-native.log, I'll see if anything stands out.

Sorry, nothing obvious in the logs.

If the files wont play in WMP, then its a pretty good sign they also wont play in GB-PVR. Usually a clean windows machine would play .mp3 files in WMP, unless they've been encoded with some tool that makes non-standard .mp3 files. We've seen this a couple of times in the past. Have you tried downloading some other .mp3 files from the net to try out?

Yes, these are mp3s that have worked on previous builds.

Guess I'll have to do some digging on wmp not playing through spdif out

OK, tried reinstalling Windows Media Player.
MP3s now play in windows media player.
However, GBPVR blue screens on playing an mp3
Logs are attached if they can help although I presume the blue screen will interrupt any log output.

blue screen complains that driver IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL
and references file cmuda3.sys

Clutching at sraws now...not sure what to do

That looks like some driver problem with your audio device.
