Hey,

I'm pretty impressed with XMLTVNZ & GBPVR. What a xmas pressy!

I have been looking to build a machine based on the PVR350 given it has outputs that will work with my projector & TV/Video. ie. SVHS / Composite Video.

How/What do I use to control the signal from the SKY Decoder ? ie. channel changing

Do I need to get some extra kind of IR device ?

I understand that I get a remote with the PVR card but how does GBPVR control the decoder ?

Thanks, S.

gbpvr uses an external ir blaster to change the channels (ie its like an ir port found on a laptop, basic devices that send out a ir signal, gbpvr sends the signal out and sky changes the channel). theres a couple of ir blaster that work with gbpvr, you can find this info in the wiki (i cant remember off hand which ones work). once you got it, just follow the instructions in the wiki to set up the blaster, if you get lost just ask.

hopefully sub will get the pvr150s blaster going in the future, so if you want a second tuner you can get that and not worry about getting a ir blaster.

Thanks kindly for your reply.

I understand that I now need to find an "IR Blaster", some kind of USB device..perhaps.. that will fire an IR signal to the reciever of the digital decoder device to change the channels. The Hauppage IR connector would still be used with it remote to control GBPVR. The GBPVR software would also control this device to do the changing of channels.

Please correct me if I dont understand correctly.

On another note.. If I use the Hauappage PVR 350 I would then be able to output to a TV via the composite out. I would also output via the VGA out of the graphics card to the to the projector.

Would putting out via the VGA take advantage of the projectors capabilities to do HDTV ie. 720P, 1080I or whatever (excuse my ignorance)..

Thanks, Stephan.

I have the PVR350 outputed to my TV through its Hardware Output and the IR remote that comes the 350 with it works to change the channel and some menu stuff - however...its been crashing a lot when using the IR remote more so than the mouse....just started with my PVR so still working out the bugs.
