I've tried searching for this, but I'm unable to find anything, so here goes:

When I'm watching live TV, there's no recording going on, meaning that I can't rewind.

However, if I press pause, I get a 2-second freeze, followed by a paused screen as expected. After this the program is recorded, and I can rewind, pause without freeze etc, but only from the moment I pressed pause.

I'm not sure when this changed, but I do remember the default functionality being that recording started whenever I changed channel.

Thank you for any support you may provide, I'm greatly enjoying gbpvr otherwise Smile

Edit:

Oh hey, I'm an idiot:

Quote:LiveTv used to always record, but there is a new Preview Mode LiveTv (from version 0.90 onwards) where the signal from the capture card bypassed the hard disk and gets displayed immediately. In this mode channel changes are much quicker, and ‘surfing’ is much smoother. The first time you hit pause GB-PVR will start buffered mode where you can use the time-shifting options. As soon as you switch channels it drops back into Preview Mode.

GB-PVR offers two ways to do live tv:

- The default is live preview mode, which does no disk buffering. It provides super channel changes, and less wear and tear on your hard drives, and usually generates less noise and heat, but means no ability to rewind live tv etc. If you press pause it only starts disk buffering at that time.

- or timeshift mode, which does disk buffering. It provides the ability to rewind live tv etc, but is always writing to disk, and has much slower channel change times.
