AVG 8.0 Interferes with Live TV

I've been looking through the posts and haven't found this one yet. I just upgraded to AVG Free 8.0. Then whenever I try to watch live tV it kicks me back to the previous screen. I tried shutting off AVG but that didn't help. Only after I uninstalled AVG and restarted did it work again. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know if upgrading to GB-PVR 1.2.13 would solve the problem? Thanks for any help.

I wouldnt think so. You'd probably have to tell AVG not to scan the GB-PVR directory, or something similar.

I didn't have to do that with AVG 7.5. Do you think this is something new?

Based on your described symptoms its probably blocking TCP/IP communications between PVRX2.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.exe. Maybe they added some firewall features in AVG 8?

FYI, I updated to AVG 8.0 free and did not get any issues.

I just re-installed AVG and everything is working fine... go figure! Anyway, thanks guys, I appreciate the timely responses.

I upgraded to AVG 8 last week, after I've been using 7.5 for a long time. But I uninstalled it after a couple of days. It feels like the cpu works a whole lot more and that it interferes with the computers main purpose (watching movies)...

has microsoft brought it cause it seems to try and think for you aswell removing stuff without telling

Yes, the damn thing deleted my ancient copy of Turbo Pascal without asking.
Deleted that is, not into the vault.
It's got bloated as well - time for a change.
